Alphabet City 8 - Jamell Crouthers

    Witness Protection

I’m in witness protection telling my story as we speak,

The name is Kevon, that’s my real name before it was changed.

My new name is Kenny but just call me Kevon, it’s cool,

I’m a 20 year old who made some bad mistakes in my life.

I got caught up in all the bad aspects of life and now I’m in prison,

I’m doing a 15 year sentence for drug dealing and weapons charges.

For six years, I was part of a gang and was a contributing cause to so many deaths in my community,

There’s no turning back the mistakes I made, just getting redemption for myself.

Witness protection was my only way out as I gave so much information about the gang I was in,

My involvement along with who was in charge of what and how we did business.

The only way I was getting out of the game was to talk,

I did the DEA and law enforcement plenty of justice, that’s for sure.

I reflect back on it now and I wouldn’t change what I did as far as snitching,

My former gang members have been trying to find out what prison I’m in for the longest.

I’m quite sure that’s been the case as my mother hears what’s going on in the streets,

It was long before they figured out where she lived and she had to get out of there quickly.

It wasn’t just me that needed protection, my mother did too,

The DEA wasn’t going to allow my drug money to get my mother out of dodge though.

My prison time will do me justice and give me time to reflect on my life,

There’s consideration of a documentary about my gang and drug dealing life, who knows.

To think that I did all of my dirt in my own community for years,

I didn’t think it would end the way it did but it happened.

We lost a lot of gang members to the drug gang as they ended up in prison,

The only difference is, they didn’t snitch like I did, they took it on the chin.

There was a death wish when I started talking like a sailor about our illegal activities,

Once the investigators hit record, there was no turning back at that point.

I’ll go in depth into my story from getting into the gang,

To the drugs we sold, the money we made, deals that happened and everything else in between.

How I went from making a few hundred dollars a week to making thousands,

How I was a low end drug dealer to the one people were looking for to get high everyday.

We all have to tell our stories but this is mine,

Welcome to Alphabet City and life as a drug dealer…

    Since Age 14

I’ve been part of the Black Gang since a young age,

I was being recruited for the longest
