SPECIAL THANKS
INTRODUCTION
CHAPTER 1 In The Beginning
SPECIAL THANKS
I want to say thank you to my mother, my father, my aunt Jean, Flora, Christina and especially Renee.
My uncle Tony for being one of the few male role models I had growing up being raised by women. My second mother Sandy for always telling it like it is and having a kind heart. All the people I knocked on doors with in the past. All the people that bought from me and told me that I could do something special in this world. I especially want to thank Mrs. Martha Lee because without her this book would never be possible for several reasons. She was the most inspirational person that I ever had in my life and if I could be a small portion of that to people then I have done my job. Gone but not forgotten I owe u the world Mrs. Lee, your little boy did his best. Now I must thank GOD for keeping me alive through all the madness I created for myself and all the organizations that helped me when I couldn’t help myself such as the Salvation Army, The Midnight Mission, Bobby’s House and One Nation Under GOD. Pastor Pam, Pastor Taylor, Pastor Robinson and the list goes on and on. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
INTRODUCTION
When the magazine business first started, it was intended to make a difference for a lot of people. It did for some, but most people fell into the same things that they did in the same bad areas in which they are from. In this book I plan on giving you everything you need to know to safeguard you from the business I was born into as well as the door to door industry as a whole. There is going to be some shocking information about me and this business. To protect myself, I will not mention my former bosses or people that I worked with in the past by name. There is going to be a lot of people upset about the information detailed in this book and I don’t care because this is the Michael Lee story and it needs to be heard.
CHAPTER 1
In The Beginning
I was born on December 28, 1983, to the best saleswoman this business has ever seen. My mother Denise Simmons literally changed the way women were viewed and treated in this business. People are rude, barking dogs, and all things you can possibly imagine. My mother, however, remained at the very top of her profession for a very long time. She also did the exact same thing pregnant with my sister two years earlier, which I believe is very impressive. I remember being a kid in the business and learning as much as I could from her. I was a very intelligent child and wanted to know what was going on behind closed doors. By the time I was five years old, I would sneak out of my room without my mothers knowledge and go room to room all night long. It was then that I was exposed to people having sex and heavy drug usage. These were the same people that I respected and loved and my mother didn’t find out what I was doing until two years later. I had to go to school, so I was sent to Gary, Indiana, to be raised by my grandparents. It was very different because they are very religious and didn’t allow anything bad around the house at all. They taught me the things that you are expected to teach a child which is honor, loyalty and respect for your elders. As one of my grandmother’s favorite songs would say, being raised by them was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I also have an aunt named Jean, who at the time didn’t have any children and treated me as her own child. This is one of the most amazing women you could ever meet in your life and she instilled the work ethic that it takes to make it in this world. I’m truly in debt to her for showing me all the things she did and putting up with all my foolish actions as I got older. I really had everything that a child needed growing up. I had all these people set up in place to take care of me. My parents did the best they could going through all these things that they had to go through. They put me in the best position to win and be raised right. Even though I did have a wonderful upbringing, I always wanted my parents to get back together, and after my grandfather died in 1993, I really wanted my dad more than ever. I was 10 years old, and I wanted to be with my dad. He was always around, but he partied all the time and never learned how to slow down. I sincerely believe he wanted to be a good father, he just had so much going on with the party scene and I understand why he was like he was now. My dad got really serious after the death of my
