Danny stood motionless , staring at the note that had been left on the windshield of his Bronco. Thoughts raced through his mind like lightning: who could be leaving these notes? Why did they want him to run? What was he supposed to run from? Where was he to run to? As Danny pondered these questions, he was completely unaware of his surroundings, that is until Kelsey placed her hand on his shoulder. Her touch surprised him, causing him to jump, jolting him back to reality.
Are you okay?
Kelsey asked.
I will be,
Danny replied, raking his hand through his hair. I suppose now we can say with absolute certainty the first note didn’t come from Apollo or Ernesto. This note was clearly produced by the same person.

Buck asked, resting his hand on the hood of Danny’s Bronco.
After today, I’d be willing to bet Sheriff Rhinehart has something to do with them. He acted weird on my first day in town, and the first note appeared that evening. Now, today, he takes me to the police station for questioning, clearly wanting to intimidate me, and then this note shows up,
Danny replied.
I don’t know about that,
Buck said, I’ve known Sheriff Rhinehart for a long time. In my experience, he’s far too direct to be sneaking around, leaving notes.
Well, I didn’t say I could prove it,
Danny said with a sigh, but he’s the only guess I have got at the moment. It does seem odd that I’ve received each note shortly after my interactions with him.
