Catherine Pulsifer

I went from a high school secretarial graduate to a senior manager of a major international corporation. My employment advancement, however, was not without many hurdles that I had to overcome. With many challenges facing me, at different times in my life, I coped and was inspired by reading biographies of people who faced similar challenges, and by reading as many motivational and inspiring books as I could find. I not only read these books but implemented the knowledge that I found in these books in my daily life, both personal and professional. In 1998, I wrote my first book, "Wings of Wisdom: Your Daily Guide To Benefit From Change, Profit From Failure, and Design Your Own Destiny". I could accomplish writing this book even though I had a demanding full-time job and two children at home. Part of my success in writing my first book was because I used the goal-setting strategies that I later wrote about in "Wings for Goals: How To Use Three Easy Steps To Change Your Life Forever!". Since then, I have written additional ebooks, "Wings for Work: Learn How To Develop and Use The Three Key Qualities That Successful People Have Mastered", which focuses on issues in the workplace and how to develop and use three key qualities that helped me move forward in my professional life. My most recent ebook, “Millionaire’s Key Habits for Success: Adopt Their Attitudes To Create The Life You Want”, focuses on the key habits of some of the world-wide known millionaires that helped them achieve greatness. All of these nine characteristics, however, are secondary to the one key attribute that each millionaire possessed. And so can you. I also devote a portion of my time to developing an inspirational and motivational website, www.stresslesscountry.com.   Why do I do what I do?  Simply put, one of my primary goals in life is to help others build a more rewarding and successful life. I do this by sharing what I have learned and experienced throughout the years, and by challenging people's thinking to be more and have more. I currently live in New Brunswick, Canada, with my husband and best friend, Byron.

    Introduction

Many years ago, my life was in shambles. I hit a wall that appeared to be unmoveable. I was working in a job that I hated and that was literally making me sick. My marriage was in trouble; my finances were a disaster; and I lived many miles away from my family. I felt I had hit bottom.

The easy way out would have been to feel sorry for myself and blame the world for my misfortune, to moan and groan about how unfair life is. Instead, I found my way to the public library and discovered a new world in the self-help section. It focused my energy on positive results, rather than on the poor me syndrome.

I started reading books on setting goals, positive thinking, psychology, auto-biographies, attitudes, and so on. I collected quotes. I discovered certain quotes made me stop and think; they made me challenge my beliefs, to change my attitude, while others gave me hope. Without realizing it, I was searching for answers.

Why are some people more successful than others?

How do they cope with challenges?

I knew other people had more serious problems than I did. But, instead of being negative or forlorn, they portrayed a positive attitude. So, I needed to know how they kept a positive attitude and overcame their problems?

Through all my years of reading and research, I found two consistent qualities of successful people, and these were their ‘Attitudes’, and ‘Goals’.

(You can read much more about ‘Attitudes’ and ‘Goals’ later in this eBook.)

But for now, it is important to focus your mind on evaluating or reconsidering what each hand-picked quotation is saying to you.

For example, does a quotation suggest that you should change your attitude?

Does it challenge what you currently think, or does it confirm that your attitude or behavior is right on the mark?

Does it suggest that you have been procrastinating instead of taking action?

Or does it say it’s time to take action to live the life you want instead of attempting to live what someone else wants you to do?

Quotations, and their messages, made a huge difference in my life. A daily diet of wisdom contained within this multitude of thoughts and expressions from other people provided me with the desire to apply what I was reading. It was the application of positive principles in these quotes that encouraged me to change my attitudes and assisted me in developing new, positive behaviours.

I hope that the quotations and writings that you will read will help you set new or additional positive outlooks on life, or help you develop new actions or behaviours that make your life more fulfilling.

From your parents you learn love and laughter and how to put one foot before the other. But when books are opened you discover you have wings.

    Helen Hayes

The wings of life are like those of a butterfly. As a child, our parents protect and guide us like a cocoon, protecting a butterfly. Later, we test our own wings, sometimes fluttering, falling or soaring to great heights.

Our ability to achieve success depends on the strength of our wings gained through knowledge and experience. The greater our knowledge and experience, the higher we can fly. May the writings in this book challenge and reinforce your wings!

    JANUARY 2

Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours.

    Swedish Proverb

    JANUARY 3

That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well. Abraham Lincoln

    JANUARY 4

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you was.

    Satchel Paige

If we did not know our age, some of us would appear to be very young, and some of us would seem very old. Sometimes, people use age as a convenient excuse. I'm too old to start something new, or, I couldn't learn that at my age.

Other people, though, achieve their greatest accomplishments in life in later years. Take, for example, Colonel Harland Sanders, who started franchising his chicken outlets when he was 65 years old. Up to the age of 90 years old, he traveled 250,000 miles a year visiting KFC franchises. He not only overcame personal and business adversities, but ‌he didn't let age stand in his way!

Feelings lead to attitudes, attitudes become beliefs, and beliefs become the basis for actions. It is not important how old you are; it is how you feel, how you think, and what you do that is important.

    JANUARY 5

Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old by deserting their ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up wrinkles the soul.

    General Douglas MacArthur

    JANUARY 6

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

    Mark Twain

    JANUARY 7

The fool wonders, the wise man asks.

    Benjamin Disraeli

Some people won't ask a simple question because they're afraid they will appear foolish. Asking questions, though, is one of the fundamental keys to learning. It is always better to ask a question than pretend you understand. You may have heard a teacher say, There is no such thing as a stupid question.

By not asking questions, you are limiting your decision-making ability. Without a full understanding of the issues, you may make an inappropriate decision. By asking a question, you gain both information and clarity, which‌ allows you to grow.
