As she awoke from a deep sleep, at ten in the morning with the sun shining upon her face, she relished the laziness of waking up on her day off and as she turned to face the other side of the bed, she found that it was empty. she wondered aloud, she stroked her ginger cat, Jasper, who had just jumped up: I wonder where he is.  and she remembered, with a jolt that today was February 29 – it was a leap year.

This day would only came once every four year's. She knew that there was a chance that she was going to be the one who would do the proposing, instead of her boyfriend and a smile slowly crept onto her face as a plan was coming together for today and remarked out loud to Jasper: Thank God he has the same day of as me.

Her name is Maya and her boyfriend's name is Andrew.

Maya stood at five foot five, with wavy brown hair and brown eyes and a smile that dazzled anyone, even those who thought they were immune to the charms and friendly manners of people like herself.

The plan was to treat Andrew to a romantic walk through the local park, come home and then have an romantic dinner at his favourite restaurant where she will pop the question.

Her thought’s were interrupted when she heard the rattling sound coming from somewhere and she soon found the source of the noise when she saw Andrew walking in with a tray full of food and drink’s for them and when he noticed that she was wide awake, he broke into the most beautiful smile she has ever seen and something that she loved so much and it was the first thing she noticed when she first met him and couldn’t help but fall in love.

He was the first to break the silence by greeting, as he placed the tray upon the bed carefully manoeuvring his six foot three build onto the bed next to her:
