Marvels, Mischief, and Mishaps

About this ebook
This is the author’s second collection of poetry and poetic tales, following the success of A Few of My Favourite Things. Laying her emotions bare for all to see, she hopes to bring a little joy and a large helping of humour to as many people as she can. The book is so relatable, and it should come with a warning as it will journey you through many emotions. You could be in tears at one point and then laughing out loud the next.
As with her first book, Amanda continues her efforts to raise money for Alzheimer’s care and research. So, once again with every book she sells, she will donate £1 towards charity.
So, sit back, hold on to your hat, and let us take this rollercoaster of emotions together!
A. J. Ross-Etheridge
A.J. Ross-Etheridge has enjoyed reading and writing poetry from a young age. She has always been interested and observant of the world around her. Along with a 19-year career helping others by working for the NHS, she always enjoys trying to help put a smile on other people’s faces too. Her mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago and has been the inspiration for Amanda to put her two collections of poetry, poetic tales, and humour together. All the poetry and tales in Amanda’s books are based on real-life stories. Amanda lives in a village in South West England with her wife and two naughty cats.

A Member of
the Family
A strong bond unites us and our pets, don’t you agree?
When we are out, they keep a seat warm for you and me
And at home, waiting by the door is where they will be
Always be kind and you will have their love and loyalty.
A true companionship on both sides is what I see
Such a wonderful connection of absolute love for free
If you need support, they are ready for cuddles on your knee
When you look after them, you’ll win their hearts, I guarantee.
Show them how much they mean to you for all eternity
When you treat them well, they will never want to flee
If you capture their hearts, they will love you unconditionally
But above all, remember that they are a member of the family.
Creatures of Habit
We are all creatures of habit
Who love to stand in a queue all day
Trying to be polite and not get in anyone’s way.
We like to talk a lot about the weather
Whatever the weather, we like to moan
Being fed up with the rain or it’s far too hot, we groan.
We have to grab those shop bargains
Three for two even though we needed the one
Bags so full of those extras that each of them weighs a ton.
We love to sit and to people-watch
