Mary Giddyup and her Golden Labrador Billy, just happened to be walking along the roadside when a small red racing car drove past. The passenger in the car threw something colourful out of the car window and called out, Good riddance!

Mary tutted to herself at the sheer lack of respect for the countryside as she watched the car disappear into the distance. As she neared the place where the item had been thrown out of the car, she came upon a small round object that was green in colour, lying in the middle of the path.

She stopped and gave it a tap with her toe as it rolled over and over down the path, Billy the Labrador pounced upon it and picked it up.

Billy, leave said Mary. Billy obediently dropped the object.

Good boy Mary scooped the item off the floor and examined it more closely.

She soon realised that it was a tiny green hat made out of stone. By this time, Billy was curiously pulling his owner towards the hedgerow. Mary told the dog to fetch and Billy obediently starting sniffing though the undergrowth. Returning a short time later with something small and colourful in his mouth. Wagging his bushy tail he dropped it by his humans feet.

Holding them next to each other she could now see that both pieces would fit together neatly to make a gnome. She decided to take the broken figure home and repair it. Placing them in her coat pocket she headed home with her faithful dog by her side.

Once back at home she walked down the garden path to her workshop. Mary had found quite a few things on her walks, which she had taken home and repaired. She would then either gave her repairs away or sold them at charity car boot sales.

Mary sat down at her workbench and opened the drawer that held all different types of glue, nails and many different tools that she used for fixing things. She selected what she needed and set about gluing the two parts of the gnome together. After a short time she studied the small gnome. Even with the hat on, the whole thing stood only a few inches tall. She wiped the tiny man all over with a soft cloth and said to herself, You are the smallest gnome that I have ever seen.

He had a round ruddy face, rosy red cheeks, small shiny black eyes, a broad smile with a thin moustache under his pug like nose. A bright green jacket covered his round bulging tummy that had been decorated with gold painted buttons and a thick black belt, around his middle. His short stubby legs were in black trousers that swooped down to just below his knees. He had long green socks, that disappeared into a pair of big black work boots, sporting
