About this ebook

Paddy may be the smallest gnome made out of stone in the world, he may only be 3 inches tall, but he once helped to save a trapped fairy's life. To say thank you, the grateful fairy cast a spell over the garden gnomes, the magic then allowed the gnomes to do magical things.

Paddy soon learned that if he concentrated very hard,

    Paddy Goes Walkabout

It was a bright summer’s day in late June.  The sun was high in the clear blue sky, and it was very hot indeed.  Hot enough to melt the paint on a gnome’s hat.  Paddy looked at the other sleeping gnomes around him.  He looked back at his father and the old gnome was gently snoring.

So, Paddy used his special powers.  He closed his eyes as tightly as he could.  He then concentrated very hard.  He lifted his right foot first and then his left foot.  He then carefully stepped down from his black plinth. Once on the ground, he double-checked that the other gnomes were all still fast asleep.  Then he tip-toed as quietly as he could through the other stone men until he reached the main garden path.

Paddy, the naughty gnome, looked back one last time and then made his way to the footpath by the main road.  Once on it, he would run as fast as he could into next door’s garden and then he could look out for opportunities to cause as much trouble as he possibly could.

Paddy reached the wall at the end of the garden.  He peeped both ways along the footpath.  He soon realised that there were just too many people on the path, so he turned back and decided he would have to walk through the garden plants and other foliage to get into the next door’s garden.

Paddy was only three inches tall.  The flowers all around him were taller and a little bit smelly.  He eventually reached the next door’s garden wall.  He looked all around to make sure that there was no-one about and simply hopped over the small wall.

The stone man landed on the other side right in front of a very spiky hedgehog, who on seeing the small man, let out a loud screech and immediately rolled into a tight prickly round ball.  The stone man had never seen this happen before and wasn’t sure what to do about it, so he picked up a nearby stick and gave the hedgehog a poke with it.

The strange looking creature begun to unfold, just a tiny a tiny bit at first, and then he
