After doing research on my family history for more than twenty years, I knew I had a story. I wrote and published my first novel, "George's Creek to Georgia", about my ancestors from 1790 until 1880. Since then, I have penned an additional nine books, four are chapter books for young readers. One of them, "Little Man: A Little Girl's Dream", is being used in reading classes and the libraries in the Mesquite, TX, elementary schools. I love writing!! It brings back so many memories of things from my past, and since my husband is retired, I can spend full time on it. I do business with Createspace.com which is a POD subsidiary of Amazon. It gives me so much more control over my work and my pricing. I can publish within a month after completion and my previous publisher could only do one book per year. I hope you like my style. It seems to fit my time periods nicely.

This novel is a work of fiction. However, several names, descriptions, entities and incidences included in the story may be based on the lives of real people.
Introduction:
The author wishes to recognize those persons from her past who provided the inspiration for this nostalgic book. As a small child, an unusually large dog showed up one day at our home. His arrival is the inspiration for this story of Stranger, the Miracle Dog. In the eyes of a small child, the dog did in fact possess strange powers as exemplified by his journey from Grandma’s house to the home of Logan which actually happened. I think you will find it a wonderful and enjoyable read.

Stranger, the Miracle Dog
Chapter One
It was the fall season of the year in the small town of Oak Valley, and the air felt gloriously cool when Grandma Dinwitty stepped out to sweep her front steps. As she swept, her mind wandered to chores that were still to be done.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught the movement of a large, gray, furry mass running toward her. The gray mass was a huge, gray dog. It was running toward her with its long, pink tongue hanging out of the side of its mouth.
The friendly dog ran up to the steps, wagged his tail, and almost looked as though he was grinning.
The very big dog startled the older woman, but she tried to show no fear and pleasantly said, Hello, stranger. You’re a big one. Where in the world did you come from?
She saw that the animal seemed friendly, and she continued to talk to him. You look a little thin. Have you traveled far?
She knew that dogs always liked something to eat, and she thought that would be a good way to make friends with him.
Are you hungry?
The large, panting creature put his two front paws on the lower step as if to say, Yes.
His wet nose reached all the way to her waist where her red checked apron was tied.
Let me go see what I can find for you to eat,
Grandma said, as she leaned her broom in the corner of the porch.
The gentle woman scurried off to the kitchen in search of some table scraps. Grandma Dinwitty found a plate of leftovers
