Evan Knight’s words slammed hard into Holly like a freight truck. She heard the sound of her heart crash inside her.

What? she said, breathless. "You’re getting married? To Birgitte?"

Heat climbed inside her. Her lungs burned. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. What the hell was going on? Evan was taken? So her fake boyfriend was in a real relationship—with another woman? And not just any other woman—but her roommate, Birgitte.

Holly’s mind was spinning in a whirlwind daze. She felt duped. Stupid. Used. Hurt. All the raw emotions stirred up inside her body. She’d just unknowingly slept with Birgitte’s fiancé. The one friend who really helped her out and kept her off the streets from being homeless.

Without saying another word, Holly covered herself more snugly with the sheets before heading back to the bedroom.
