About this ebook
If you were to ask me what took the longest to complete in this book, it would have to be what you are reading right now. Maybe because I've said all of my thanks. Wrote my dedication. Introduced myself in my author bio. Bore my soul in every single poem.

are not sufficient enough to express my gratitude. I found out a lot about myself through writing the poems in this collection. Emotions that I thought had been deeply buried. Relationships I was contemplating throwing away. But it was through this journey of soul searching and seeking self-love that this book was born. With the help of the people I love and hold dear, I was able to define what growing in my teenage years meant for me.
First, I have to thank God. Without His grace and mercy, I wouldn’t have known when I wasn’t moving according to His plan. This book is an example of His faithfulness to me and my answered prayers to Him. I am beyond grateful for Your sovereignty.
Moving on to the best family in the world. As a collective, you all have supported me through all of my growing pains, and I love you for it.
To my mama, thank you for believing my dreams into fruition. Even during the moments in which I thought I wouldn’t finish. From your wise advice to your shocked reactions, your belief in me is what got me through days when I wasn’t motivated.
To my dad, thank you for supporting our family. You provided a level of comfort that not many can afford. I love that you believe that I can do whatever I dream of and not the other way around.
To my younger siblings, Kyle and Kyra, thank you for being you. On the worst days of this project, it was the random jokes that Kyle told that lifted my spirits. And Kyra’s meals gave me the energy to pull all-nighters. I love you both so much. I hope you see the best and the worst of me in my poetry so that it can bring out the best in you.
To my grandmother, thank you for your kind words. From the first poem I shared, you gave such insightful comments. Your love and patience are definitely not taken for granted.
To Aunt Yolanda, thank you for always seeing the larger picture. When I had the tendency to think small, you helped broaden my way of thinking. After my godmother passed,
