    CHAPTER ONE

    BARREN WOMEN IN THE BIBLE

    1.      SARAH

Sarah was the wife of Abraham, originally named Sarai. She was the first recorded barren woman in the Bible. After a short while with her husband she gave in to bareness by giving her slave girl, Hagar to Abraham. God must have laughed at her spiritual vacuum when she took this step.

One thing peculiar with Sarah was that she never prayed! Yet she was released from the yoke of bareness. God made her situation peculiar in that He wants to raise a peculiar race through her and father Abraham. God promised Abraham in Genesis 12:2, I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great and you will be a blessing.

    2.      MANOAH

The Bible recorded in Judges 13:2 that a man named Manoah, a Danite had a wife who was sterile and childless. Her childlessness was for a purpose. She was to be visited by God through an angel who announced an end to her barrenness. This took place unaware by both parents who later gave birth to Samson – The Nazarine. As the angel announced in the old, is announcing to you today that you shall conceive and bear a peculiar child that will bring permanent smile unto your face. Amen.

Sister, if God can visit the family of Manoah and make His promise come to pass, why then doubt God who is promising you right now that by this time next year you shall bear a baby. Whether you like it or not, whether you doubt Him or not, the ball is no more in your court the Lord Almighty shall do it. Praise the Lord. Halleluiah.

The only advice I shall give you right now is to get prepared and with faith go to market and start buying your baby materials. This is a challenge to you and to God, the provider. Buy your baby materials and as you will pray show them to God and say aloud like this, O Lord my God, you are Jehovah Jireh-the great provider. These are my baby materials; I have completed my assignment by buying my baby materials. But now where is my baby? Make me to conceive and bear a baby boy or girl, or twins as you deem if fit. O Lord hearken unto my voice as I cry unto you". This is faith not foolishness. Build faith and erase sin out of your life. God shall surely answer you. Amen. Buy new baby materials. Not ‘tokunbo’ (used ones) or those you kept at home before now. The old materials are for the past. You are now in a new generation. Never live in the past or allow your newly born baby to live in the past. Poverty shall not enslave you. Amen.

    3.      HANNAH

Hannah was the first recorded barren woman to pray in the Bible concerning bareness. She was the first woman to make vow and the first woman to weep concerning her condition in the Bible. Infact, she was very bitter in her soul.

Hannah was a goal getter. She was a woman that hit the nail on the head as she prayed. O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant’s misery and remember me and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for the days of his life and no razor will ever be used on his head. I Samuel 1:11.

Hannah conceived and had a baby boy called Samuel. Peculiar thing with Hannah was that she never took Samuel to Shiloh for the subsequent annual pilgrimage but stayed behind and weaned the baby. Her coming to Shiloh again was only to fulfil her vow – To surrender the baby boy to God. She kept to her vow.

Sister can you keep to your vow. Be careful when you make vow. Don’t say because you are in need of a child badly then you make vow, which may be difficult for you to fulfil.

From Hannah’s experience, prayers from the bottom of the heart works like magnet. It never fails. Your prayers to conceive and bear children shall not fail in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

    4.      REBECCA

Rebecca was the first barren woman in the Bible who her husband stood in gap for. God answered Isaac’s petition as Rebecca eventually conceived and gave birth to Jacob and Esau. From Jacob’s lineage came the twelve tribes of Israel till this day!

The question now is, are you in a good term with your husband to back you up in prayers? If so good, but add tempo to the prayers
