    The streets were busy that morning. Frankie kept her head down as she ducked in and out of the crowd, trying to keep up with Shelley’s long strides ahead of her. A black billowing cloud of exhaust choked her as a bus pulled away from the curb just ahead of them.

    Frankie caught up with Shelley on the corner as they waited for the signal to change. Shelley’s uniform was perfect, as usual. Her crisp white collared shirt was perfectly ironed and blindingly clean. Her tie was tied with a perfectly tied knot and her skirt was clean and the pleats were perfectly pleated. She had her thick blonde hair tied up in a ponytail that bobbed like a small animal trying to scramble its way up her back.
