Seven dialogues in various beginning conversation settings
The dialogues are presented naturally and all in Japanese. This may be too fast for you at first but try listening to it a few times to attune your ears.
As you master the vocabulary and understand the grammatical points mentioned in the book, you may find what was difficult upon first hearing is easy the second (or tenth!) time around.

ほうが、簡単(かんたん)でしょう。
1) ありがとうございました。
2) 7(なな)番通(ばんどお)りで曲(ま)がったら、5(ご)分(ふん)ほどでつきますよ。

Making Reservations
Try to read the Japanese on the left page first. Use this page only when necessary.
1) sumimasen ga, eki wa doko deshou ka?
Excuse me, but do you know where the train station is?
2) kocchi no hou desu.
It is in this direction.
1) dono toori de magareba iin deshou ka?
Which street should I turn down?
2) fifusu abenyu- wo tootte mo ii desu ga, nanaban doori de migi ni magaru hou ga kantan deshou.
You could take 5th avenue but turning right on 7th is easier.
1) arigatou gozaimashita.
Thank you very much.
2) nanaban doori de magattara, gofun hodo de tsukimasu yo.
Once you turn on 7th it is about a five-minute walk.
Japanese continued
1) つまり、7(なな)番通(ばんどお)りで右(みぎ)に曲(ま)がって5(ご)分(ふん)で見(み)えてくるということですね。
2) そうです。電車(でんしゃ)に間(ま)に合(あ)うといいですね。

English continued
1) tsumari, nanaban doori de migi ni magatte gofun de mietekuru to iu koto desu ne.
So, I go down to 7th, turn right, walk five minutes, and I should see it.
2) sou desu. densha ni ma ni au to ii desu ne.
