The dialogues are presented naturally and all in Japanese. This may be too fast for you at first but try listening to it a few times to attune your ears.
As you master the vocabulary and understand the grammatical points mentioned in the book, you may find what was difficult upon first hearing is easy the second (or tenth!) time around.

Asking Someone Out on a Date

こんにちは。 由美(ゆみ) さん。
konnichiwa. yumi san.
Hello, Yumi.
こんにちは literally means this day
. It is sometimes written in kanji as 今日は. Note, the wa
sound is not わ, but the topic particle は.
VOCABULARY
こんにちは hello [used during most of the day]
由美 Yumi [a girl’s name]
さん miss [used with males and females; does not convey marital status]
あら、こんにちは。マイクさん。
ara, konnichiwa. maikusan.
Oh, hi, Mike.
Male and female language can be very different in Japanese. Reading 「あら」 indicates the speaker is most likely a woman.
