本书是美国德州李新纪先生自传，分为上下两集全彩问世。作者曾是一个红卫兵和后来的知青，1966年写过大字报，破过四旧，天真地以为那就是革命，是最后的斗争。1968年去上山下乡了。在知青生活的艰苦岁月里，经常抬头望天，听说美国人登上了月球，让他惊叹不已。从那时起，他想的不是怎样登上月球，而是先登陆美国再说，因为美国离天最近。要做个离天最近的人，他等待了25年，也就是说等了1/4 个世纪。而今天的中国也有了自己的登月计划，且可能在10年之内实现。人的一生就是在望月，梦月，登月的过程中。人生又好比是一场马拉松，已经跑了廿迈，现在想的是如何跑好最后的六迈路程。

作者的话

美国作家埃德加 斯诺 （Edgar Snow）在 他的《Journey to The Beginning （我在旧中国13年 ) 》一书结尾部分写道：当你幸运地到达回顾前尘影事的时候，你就晓得，漫长的生命并不按岁数来衡量，而看度过几种生活来结算。只有在回顾往事的时候，你才看出一种生活在那个时候悄悄过去，而另一种生活又在那个时候开始。

现在对《Journey to The Beginning》一书的记忆只留下了书名和这句话。但就是这句话，让我在参加完2020-2021年万维读者网《又到庚子年》征文活动之后，有了编辑出版自己的博客文章的念头， 要以拥有过几种生活来回顾， 而忽略流水般的年华。

埃德加 斯诺先生曾著有《红星照耀中国》 Red  Star  Over China  ，中文译本叫西行漫记，1939年出版， 向世界介绍了在20世纪初叶，在世界历史大变局中，中国发生的事和人物。30年后的1969年，当他受毛主席邀请站在天安门城楼上时，又一次向世界传达了一个信号，中美接近 联合抗苏。只有像埃德加 斯诺先生这样的人说的话才能被人记住。

改革开放之初，托夫勒的《第三次浪潮》风靡中国大地，影响深远，对刚刚结束了封闭状态的中国和中国人是一个极大地震撼和提醒。中国再不能错过历史的机遇了，若再一次错过第三次浪潮，天理不容，要被开除球籍！面对历史，一个国家是如此，一个人也是如此。当回顾前尘影事的时候，像浪潮一般激荡着我的人生的，也有三次。那就是文革年代以及上山下乡大潮；改革开放年代的出国大潮；以及当今风靡世界的跑马拉松大潮。因此，就有了《人生的三次浪潮》。目前，我正处在马拉松大潮之中，且 浪潮激荡不停，前二次浪潮已经远去， 已经浸没在时间的沙上和文字记忆里。

我是新中国的同龄人！这一代人大都是在所谓的红旗下长大的，也就是说，是在共产党执政中国时成长的，不可能不受到影响。与此同时，在西方这一代人是二战之后出生的叫婴儿潮一代 （Baby Boomer） 。有趣的是，一个出生在东方古老大国的同时代人向往，并移民到了婴儿潮一代人的国度来，并与这里的人民共同生活工作了几十年。华尔街日报称这一代中国人是世界上最勤奋的人，只是感叹这一代人老了。在这一代人的手里，中国迅速工业化，成就了世界经济的龙头老二的地位。今天的世界，美中分别是龙头的老大和老二。老大和老二斗斗分分，分斗斗，也离不开这一代人的贡献。有人说，中美之间要打仗，要脱钩。我说那都是扯淡。去讲那些话是他们的工作。而我认为，这一代人的职责是加强 相互了解，消除误解，共同进步。只有中美之间有和平，世界才有 安宁！

Author’s Words

The American Journalist Edgar Snow described in the last chapter of his book <>: When you are lucky enough to look back into the shadows of the past, you will realize that the life is not measured by years, months, or days, but how many different kinds of life you have lived through. Retrospectively, you’ll notice at a certain point, one kind of life has passed quietly, and another kind of life has begun at the same time. This sentence and the book title are the only remaining memories I have left for Journey to The Beginning. But it was this very sentence that gave me the idea of editing and publishing my blog posts after participating in the Another Year of the Geng Zi essay competition organized by the WWW Chinese Reader Network. I want to preface the years of my life based on my experience and ignore the flowing numbers of years, months, and days.

Mr. Edgar Snow also authored <>, a book published in 1939, introducing the rise of the CCP in the midst of a rapidly changing world at the beginning of the 20th century. Thirty years later, in 1969, Chairman Mao invited Mr. Snow to stand by him at the Tiananmen Tower; it sent a signal to the world with China’s intention of joining the United States against the Soviet Union.

During the early years of Chinese economic reform, the book The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler swept through the nation and had a far-reaching impact on the Chinese people. It was a great shock and a reminder to a country that just opened itself up to the world that it can no longer afford to miss such a historical opportunity. China needed to catch the third wave on the road to revival. Throughout history, this is true for a country, and so is for a person. Looking back at my life, it also consists of three waves: the first wave of participating in the Down to the Countryside Movement during the Cultural Revolution era; the second wave of going abroad during the Chinese economic reform era; and lastly, the third wave of running marathons during the era of self-actualization. This is where the book title The Three Waves of Life comes from – I’m currently riding on my third wave of running marathons, and the tide is going strong. The previous two waves of my life have come and gone, immersing into the sand of time and the memory of words.
