Words from a Broken Woman's Chronicles Book Ii - Sharon D Epps

    Holy Ghost

I don’t do the things I use to do

    sounds like an ole cliché’.

But when the Holy Ghost falls on you,

the POWER leads you in a different way.

For I use to walk around in darkness, bound by my life.

I was ignorant to God’s Holy Word,

and every chance I rolled the dice.

    Knowing I knew about God,

but I wasn’t living my life his way.

Only in my times of trouble

would I even send a disparate prayer his way.

The Holy Spirit fell on me

when I was on my knees,

I was crying out to God one of my many pleas…

Only in my time of need

would I even call on his name.

The life that I was living caused me

    misery, hurt, and shame.

So tired of doing me, my pain lead me back to Christ,

which lead me back to the Word,

and the Holy Ghost in my life.

    Strange Fruit

    Another Black body found

    hangin’ in a cell,

Black Folks don’t go to Texas,

    Waller County jail are HELL.

    Sandra Bland was found

    hangin’ there,

    now Evan Parker was found

    hung there too.

    hangin’ yourself

    in the Waller County jail

it seem is the politically correct

thing for Black Folks to do.

    Same Jail! Same Cell!

    Probably even found

    by the same white male.

    Billie Holiday sung about

    the Strange Fruit hangin’.

    The only thing Strange today

    is that we still sangin’.

    We still getting hung,

    cause we still Black,

you just can’t see the slavery welts

    on our backs,

you can’t see the wanted posters

    on our heads,

    saying if they’re alive

    make sure they’re DEAD!

    We’re still the objects

    of racial hate

and did I fail to mention

    we Black Folks are

    the STRANGE FRUIT

    and them hangin’s

    is still lynchin’s.

    Covered in the Blood

    Covered in the Blood

    by your ancestors

ever since you were a child.

You’ve been covered in the Blood

    by family and friends

    tho sometimes you’ve acted
