Ask the Animals and They Shall Teach Thee Harness the New Year with Feng Shui and the Chinese Animals - Mary L Shurtleff
INTRODUCTION
Feng Shui doesn’t mean everything is rosy, good, and wonderful. It doesn’t mean people will always agree and work toward the same goal. It doesn’t mean evil will be gone. It simply means one becomes mindful of his or her environment. It means one can see there is a yin and yang in all we do. It is the ability to agree to disagree, instead of hating and fighting each other. It is important to not only honor the yin and yang of all that is, but to understand it. The understanding is where peace lives. That is the true awakening. Finding peace within the chaos.
For eons of time, soothsayers have looked to the animals, stones, and plants for answers. They believe the animals hold the answers from God for their existence. The animals provided food, clothing and transportation. Signs and metaphors from heaven guide us daily. God speaks to us though the animals. The wind, sky, sun and moon guide us. Our instincts keep us alive. Some intellectuals have a hard time with the idea of a spiritual realm without scientific proof. Science is a metaphoric actualization of reality to explain life, as is spirituality. The guide to understanding your potential is seeing the science within spirituality and the spirituality within science. The heart may feel the belief but the mind needs proof.
I am not the average practitioner who just does the Chinese Animal research of the past, but one who believes in visions of the future. It has taken me years to understand the meaning behind the visions and I try my best to decipher them correctly as I see them. The universe everyday shows us signs and metaphors that we as mere mortals can use daily to guide our way safely and more harmoniously through the year. Our job is to recognize them and use them wisely. The animal behaviors hold the key to human behavior within that year.
But ask now the beasts and they shall teach thee;
Ask the fowls of the air and they shall tell thee;
Or speak to the Earth and it shall teach thee;
And the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee;
Who knoweth not in all these
that the hand of the Lord has wrought this. — Job 12:7-12
WHY FENG SHUI WORKS
Your home is an extension of your mind and your thoughts create your home.
Does your home support your needs—emotionally, financially, physically, spiritually, and mentally? The features in this book will help you to make those assessments. All you have to do is read and place the objects appropriately and go about your month or year.
Feng Shui does NOT worship objects and does NOT guarantee a trial and tribulation free life. It simply helps you understand the world around you and how you can program yourself to understand and surround yourself with people, places, and things that build your energy and not diminish it.
Everything in your world holds a subconscious meaning personal only to you. A benign object can become an object of power when downloaded with your mental energy. For instance, a basketball player may wear the same pair of socks for each game for good luck. You can program your home the same way...for good luck, good health, good relationships, and overall happiness. The items in your home should always be pleasant. If not, get rid of them. Start over.
The symbologies recommended in this book are universal symbologies of universal meaning. Make sure the objects that you use resonate with your mental well being. If not, adjust it to your understanding. For instance, a Christian may wish to use a picture of Jesus vs a Buddha. If you don’t want to use a Chinese Fu Dog, use objects in groups of two to symbolize soldiers protecting your front door. Use your imagination and your energy to design your own home. However, learn the rules before you break them. There is a rhythm and pattern to it.
The Four-Pillar Eastern astrology and the Flying Stars method of Feng Shui are used to determine how the energies of the Earth and its directions from different time periods affect your lives and wellbeing. The Flying Stars Feng Shui, a method thousands of years old, is based on ancient calculations of astronomy, navigation, and mathematics. The Flying Stars method covers the natal or birth stars of your home; the annual flying stars that change each year with the Chinese New Year; and the monthly flying stars, which change monthly.
DISCLAIMER: All aspects and predictions of the flying stars are for entertainment purposes only and should not be used in the place of medical care if you should need it.
PART ONE:
Prepare for New Beginnings and A Fabulous Year
Start your year by clearing out of the past and begin setting your New Year aspirations for the year. A positive attitude, a smile on your face, and a few ideas in your head are all that are needed for a successful Chinese New Year. Feng shui principles require that you set your mental, physical, and spiritual stage to pave the way for achieving your goals in the New Year.
Your attention is your intention:
Don’t educate your child to be rich, but educate him/her to be happy. So when s/he grow up they know the value of things and not the price. —Author unknown
As with anything, your importance only comes from inside. People who are searching for their gold externally never find it internally. What are your thoughts directing you to do? Past, present, future? The past keeps you stuck. The future can make you nervous. When you are in the moment mentally, all feels right.
Remember, we are all part of the bigger picture. Sometimes it is better to be a small fish in a big pond than a big fish in a small pond. A big pond has more air to breathe and room to grow. Life is a magical journey; take it all in.
Manifesting is easier when you involve your God Modality. Everyone has one. To engage your inner spiritual powers, begin by meditating daily to gain insight into your innermost dreams and desires. Sit comfortably and close your eyes and just breathe. People tend to hold their breath when they are stressed and forget to breathe. Take a deep breath in to the count of 4, hold it for 6, and then exhale very slowly saying the word ahh...to the count of 8. Do this several times and then just breathe normally and LISTEN to the silence in your head. Go deep inside yourself and listen to what thoughts come up for you. The issue that may be bothering you may only be a Band-Aid for what really is the core of the problem. Meditate at least once a day and more if possible when stressed. This will help to relax the mind and body as well as open your highest self to better guide you throughout the day more easily and effortlessly thoughout the day.
For mental clarity, set goals for the day, week, month, and year. As you empower yourself and cheer others on to their goals, you will find you are more fulfilled and your goals begin to take care of themselves. As you do clear the old, you may feel anxiety and panic about the unknown. Walk through the fear. Breathe and move around.
De-program all vows of poverty and your obligation to it. Stop worrying about the ‘what ifs’ or ‘fear of the unknown’ and ‘ENHANCE’ today. Don’t panic over the small stuff. Fear, hoarding, envy, and greediness stop the flow of prosperity. They are the thieves of dreams. This mentality never seems to have enough, no matter what they do have. This mentality is unhappy at the core, which eventually will affect health and relationships as well. Too often we all get caught up in the pity party of a situation and forget to be grateful for the moments of the day that are blessings.
This year, I ask you to throw away your sorrows and fears and be mindful of those things that bring you joy and happiness.
A few days before the New Year buy a new wallet or purse to enter the year fresh. Put cash in your wallet on New Year’s Eve as a symbol of an abundant year.
Take last year’s wallet/purse and make it into your ‘freedom’ purse. Write down any old fears, doubts, hates, habits, people, places or things you wish to diminish from your life this year. Literally put all your anguishes into this purse. Cry over it if you must. Meditate with it and put all anxieties in it. Place any mementos that bring you sorrow or doubt into the purse as well. As you place these things into the ‘freedom’ purse, visualize them being placed into a universal fire to be purged and healed. Let them go. Never look in your purse again, except to deposit new worries. Continue to place worries and objects into your purse
