Chinese Astrology Predictions and Feng Shui for 2013 - Marina Lighthouse
The Year of the Water Snake
From February 10th, 2013 to January 30th, 2014
2013 welcomes the year of the Water Snake which begins on February 10th, 2013 and ends January 30th, 2014 when the snake goes slithering out. The Snake prefers quiet predictability to chaos and commotion. This sets the tone for the year, in that there will be steady progress made, though one must be disciplined and pay attention to details in order to achieve one’s goals.
The Snake is the sixth animal figure of the Chinese zodiac and represents transformation. In the western world it is the symbolic animal figure of healing used in medicine. The Rod of Asclepius, with a single snake wrapped around a staff and the two-Snake caduceus design both have ancient associations with medicine, alchemy and wisdom.
Though feared in the Western world, in Asia the Snake is more often seen as a positive symbol representing bravery in men and beauty in women. The Japanese are very straightforward about the Snake symbolizing money. In their folk culture they will carry a piece of Snakeskin with them in their wallets for good luck.
In Chinese folklore, it is said that if a person born under the sign of the Snake lives in the house, your family will never starve. 2013 will show great opportunities for those who stay the course are responsible and smoothly glide forward toward their goals.
This Water Snake year should prove to be more insightful than the previous Year of the Snake. Superficial conversation and gossip will be looked upon unfavorably. This is a time for self-reflection and to first analyze situations and then act on them. This could also be a year of finding new munificence that will inspire you to serve others for the higher good. The Water Snake is predisposed to taking on added responsibilities and if they’re for the benefit of your family or loved ones, you will be even more supported by the spirit of the year and be very successful.
Understanding the Snake Vibration
People born in the year of the Snake will share certain characteristics. They’re the sixth in the order of the Chinese zodiac. Their power hour is between 9 AM and 11 AM. They rule the lunar month of May. Characteristics attributed to the Snake are awareness, cunning, pride, viciousness and vanity, which facilitate adroitness in commerce, eloquence, trickery, and negotiation. Snakes will risk everything for their family’s well-being and will even go as far as to sacrifice themselves for the good of the whole.
They are creatures of mystery. In order to grow, a Snake must shed its constrictive skin through a molting process in which he goes into a trancelike state and comes out with a brand new exterior layer. Because of their secretive nature, they will never put all their cards on the table. So no matter how well or how long you have known a Snake person you will never truly know them. This must be respected if you are going to call them friend. By staying in the present moment and being free of judgment you will appreciate the value of their company.
Peach Blossom Luck
Because Snakes are considered to be some of the most attractive and sexually alluring signs of the Chinese zodiac, they have the ability to become some of the most powerful people in the world. This is called Peach Blossom Luck. Grand Master Lin Yun taught us that there are three kinds of Peach Blossom Luck: one is being very attractive and magnetic to others, thereby making them naturally popular and their status in life is easily elevated. The second is peach Blossom menace, which means they attract others to them but the possibility of triangle relationships and temptation looms. This can then lead to the third, which is Peach Blossom Disaster, where families are destroyed and the ensuing jealousy can lead to violence and devastation. The recent headline news example of this is General Petraeus’ affair. Many signs will be blessed with the gift of peach Blossom luck, but there is always the danger of Peach Blossom Menace so be aware and avoid temptation.
Snakes like to work alone. Because of that, they may seem like they are being secretive or withholding information. Worry and a tendency to be secretive will be a forecasted highlight this year. Remember, when you set your sights on a goal, the Water Snakes’ nature will support you if you can dip into their ability to be calculating, practical and persistent on choosing a course to achieve your goals. You’ll be able to weave a serpentine path to success. Though being very conscientious and diligent while working, use caution. Snakes can dive right into decisions without weighing the consequences, which can later tie them into a knot.
Not outwardly emotional or open creatures, Snakes have few friends, but when they have a friend, generally, this friend will last a lifetime. If you deceive the Snake or stab them in the back you will never be forgiven. They like to get the last word, so don’t be surprised by retaliation. This attitude or spirit during the Snake year could prove heinous for mankind. Each one of us must find calmness within and create peaceful environments, so it will negate this vengeful energy the Snake year carries. Suggestions are: releasing captured animals, becoming a vegetarian (or maybe if your health does not allow, eating vegetarian a few meals every week), providing extra care-giving and compassion for those in need. This will truly help the whole world’s situation - one person at a time.
Politics and Finance
During this Snake year there will be many unsettled energies, whether from political uprising or the power of nature, causing us to feel like we are standing on shaky ground. Many false realities will reveal themselves, and we will experience enlightenment. There will be major change and heightened tensions in the world, but it will give mankind an opportunity to create growth and movement in a more realistic and positive direction. There could be major advancements in science and medicine. Investigations and research are supported by the Snake’s nature, so use cunning this year as the Snake will help us to find solutions.
There will be worldwide political protests stemming from the fact that governments will be unstable due to financial debt. The gap between the rich and the poor will continue to broaden. The concern of the struggling poor as always will be money and the basic necessities of life. For the wealthy, because there is an unstable star in the center of the Flying Star system, even though they may appear to have it all, they will also feel the effects of the year by facing tough issues in health, relationships or some investments will not go as planned. Because the five elements are heavy in water and wood, this year’s cycle will not be balanced. The stock market may seem like it’s going up, but in reality it will
