Chinese Astrology Predictions and Feng Shui for 2012 - Marina Lighthouse

The Year of the WATER DRAGON

    From January 23rd, 2012 to February 9th, 2013

There are some who anticipate this Dragon year with anxiety and dread, on account of the Armageddon prophecies surrounding the Mayan calendar ending in the year 2012. However, the previous Dragon year came in 2000, which was feared for the Y2K bug that was supposed to be the end of technology as we knew it. And look what happened then – we survived! The world didn‟t end! In China, the celestial Dragon is benevolent and auspicious, not the village-burning monster of the West, and many people choose this year for marriage and starting families.

The year of the Water Dragon, REN CH‟EN, symbolizes innovation and rewards those who take action and initiate new projects and ideas. It is full of energy and vitality, which will invigorate some and be a bit exhausting to others. Communications are important this year, and will be necessary to working with others to achieve change and harness exciting opportunities. It is more likely to be environmentally conscious, and diplomacy will be highlighted.

The Water Dragon year occupies the 5th position in the Chinese Zodiac and is normally a time of growth and action. Dragon years are considered particularly auspicious for new businesses, marriage and children. However, there will still be many ups and downs throughout, as the Dragon year magnifies both successes and failures, so it is recommended that you implement special Feng Shui cures and enhancers to avoid problems in 2012. Find enhancements for your particular sign - Rat, Ox, Tiger, Hare, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. If you don't know your sign, refer to the chart in the Appendix. To best grasp the opportunities that the Water Dragon will present, pay attention to communication in 2012.

The Nature of This Year's Dragon

Water has a calming effect on the Dragon's fearless temperament. The element of water allows the Dragon to become more aware of the feelings of others. These Dragons are better equipped to take a step back to re-evaluate a situation because they understand the art of patience and do not desire the spotlight like other Dragons. They are great at communication and negotiating, and are willing to put aside their egos for the good of all. They are innovative, enterprising and self-assured and have copious amounts of strength and energy. They are highly enthusiastic, which can sometimes wear them out if they are not careful. Dragons despise unnecessary bureaucracy and when people don‟t fully hear out their ideas before dismissing them. They are most often successful, partly due to their great luck. Irresistible to those they wish to attract, Dragons usually have no trouble in romance. They are generous, and are often surrounded by people, but they must get to know a person well before they will be considered a true friend. Once you have their friendship, they are loyal and will be there when they are needed. In feng shui, Dragons are the symbol of helpful people coming to your aid.

    The Oppositional Cycle is Complete!

There are some schools that believe the world has been in a six-year run of bad luck; we have now completed that run! This theory largely comes out of the phenomenon that the zodiac animals have all been in the element opposite that of their nature (i.e. 2008 was the year of the Fire Rat, but the Rat‟s natural element is water). We‟re now in a nurturing cycle, as the Dragon‟s natural element is Wood, and Water nourishes and sustains Wood.

The Dragon is known for bringing abundance and good fortune, so we should hopefully see a boost in the world economy. This should also be a peaceful year overall, with the Water Dragon being a successful negotiator who can accept defeat without bitterness.

    Expect a high-energy, fast-paced year.

    Focus on Innovation and Communication

Like all Dragons, the Water Dragon is a forward-thinking, fearless leader. But the Water Dragon is also far more sensitive to others‟ needs, and is more likely to be progressive and diplomatic, as well as socially and environmentally conscious, so we must act by championing causes such as curtailing world hunger and helping the poor. Dragons love the outdoors, so there will be a shift this year toward innovations in energy conservation, green technology and renewing the health of the world‟s oceans. Science and technology will see advances, both on the environmental front, and in social networking and internet business. Because Dragons live in the heavenly realms, they have a great overview of everything that is happening, so this is a good time to take action in your own community to enact changes for the better on a broader, even global scale. The motto of the year could very well be Think Globally, Act Locally. An act of kindness will have a rippling effect and will produce bigger results, this year even more so than at other times.

Dragon years make everything seem larger than life, and unfortunately this can apply to disasters as well as achievements, so there‟s a chance that we‟ll see some extreme weather and natural disasters early in the year. However with the Water Dragon‟s benevolence, we should see people banding together to aid one another, increasing our compassion for each other. Being social is important this year, spending time with loved ones and making new friends. As we find ourselves
