About this ebook

Trisha is embarking upon her first voyage to the international space station. She’s excited and nervous, but her co-pilot, George, is a seasoned veteran. When she reaches the station she begins to realize how small she really is, and the only way she can come to terms with her microscopic existence is in the arms of her fellow astronaut, especially after a disaster nearly sends her drifting into the endless abyss of space.

The countdown began. Trisha and George were strapped in. Despite the training she had endured Trisha felt a queasy knot tighten in her stomach. Blinking lights flashed all around her and she repeated one word a hundred times, ‘check’, as George ran through the systems. The space shuttle rumbled as the mighty engines revved up. The vibrations shot through Trisha and her body trembled along with the enormous vessel. She tried to control her breathing and for a moment she panicked because she couldn’t distinguish her heartbeat in amongst all the other sounds and feelings. She glanced over at George who seemed to be so composed and calm, as if he was just taking the car for drive to the mall.

…and 1, we have lift off, she heard the smooth voice of ground control say through the speakers. A huge roar filled the cockpit of the space shuttle and the rocket blasted off, shaking so much that Trisha’s teeth chattered
