Detroit area resident, Bob Moats, has been writing short stories and plays for as long as he can remember. He has lost most of his original stories, typed or handwritten, in the numerous moves he has made from his hometown of Fraser, Michigan to Northern Michigan, to Las Vegas and back to Fraser, where he now lives. Moats became one of the causalities of unemployment a year ago, and had time on his hands to finally pursue a life long dream of writing a full blown crime novel. Thus was born the first book, "Classmate Murders".What followed was a series of seven books starting with "The Classmate Murders" which introduces the main character, Jim Richards, who has to admit he has become a senior citizen, reluctantly. Richards, one day, receives an email from a childhood sweetheart asking for his help, but by the time he reaches her, she has been murdered. His life turns around and he is pulled into numerous murders of women from his high school who he hasn't seen in forty years. Along with a friend of his, Buck, a big, mustached biker, they go off to track down the killer before he can get to one former classmate, Penny Wickens, a TV talk show host who Jim has just fallen for while protecting her. The killer is also murdering the women right out from under police protection, driving homicide detective Will Trapper crazy, and he slowly depends on Jim to help. There's humor, suspense, wild chases across suburban Detroit with cops, classic cars and motorcycle clubs; murder, mayhem, a good amount of romance and a twist ending.Jim and his crime fighters, continue in the other books, traveling to Las Vegas twice, back to Detroit and out to New York to solve murders involving dominatrix; mistresses; Bridezillas; magic and strip clubs.Book titles: Classmate Murders; Vegas Showgirl Murders; Dominatrix Murders; Mistress Murders; Bridezilla Murders; Magic Murders; Strip Club Murders and Made-for-TV Murders.

    Chapter 1

Stoney stood looking out her office window at the snow drifting down to the ground below. She was not fond of snow but endured it. She had bad memories of snow when she was a kid in the southwest of Detroit. She was a gangly child and was teased by the boys who roamed the streets in small bands of gangs. They weren’t old enough to be dangerous as the street gangs but they could inflict terror on young people like Stoney.

One more reason she learned to fight at a young age and studied martial arts to ward off the bullies that bothered her and others who couldn’t stand up for themselves.

By the time she was in her early teens she had to accept the fact the second man who married her mother had left them alone. She took his name and became Stoney Hawk. The Stoney was her mother’s doing, naming her after the Barbara Streisand song Stoney End.

She turned away from the window when someone entered her office. It was a man in a nice suit that stood at the door looking at Stoney. Her standard way of dressing was a tight jumpsuit and knee high boots. She dressed like a hooker which was her way to distract men who beat on their wives. This was her main purpose as a Private Investigator, to protect defenseless women from brutal men.

The man asked, Are you Stoney Hawk?

I am, come in and sit down. She hoped he was going to be a client, since her funds were getting a little bleak. Most people don’t hire a female P.I. so she relied on what she could get. What can I do for you? she asked the man.

I’m Harold Wallace, I own Santa, Inc. We hire out Santas for any occasion. Department stores, street kettles, private parties, Office parties, and any occasion Santas are needed. I have a problem. We have lost three Santas in the last week and it’s hard to find good men to be Santas.

Where have your Santas gone to? Stoney asked.

They just disappeared, leaving no word as to their leaving. I have a feeling they have been threatened by a competing company renting Santas, but I can’t prove it.

Is hiring out Santas a big business? Stoney asked.

"Do you realize how many Santas are on the streets and in stores? They
