Bob Moats
Detroit area resident, Bob Moats, has been writing short stories and plays for as long as he can remember. He has lost most of his original stories, typed or handwritten, in the numerous moves he has made from his hometown of Fraser, Michigan to Northern Michigan, to Las Vegas and back to Fraser, where he now lives. Moats became one of the causalities of unemployment a year ago, and had time on his hands to finally pursue a life long dream of writing a full blown crime novel. Thus was born the first book, "Classmate Murders".What followed was a series of seven books starting with "The Classmate Murders" which introduces the main character, Jim Richards, who has to admit he has become a senior citizen, reluctantly. Richards, one day, receives an email from a childhood sweetheart asking for his help, but by the time he reaches her, she has been murdered. His life turns around and he is pulled into numerous murders of women from his high school who he hasn't seen in forty years. Along with a friend of his, Buck, a big, mustached biker, they go off to track down the killer before he can get to one former classmate, Penny Wickens, a TV talk show host who Jim has just fallen for while protecting her. The killer is also murdering the women right out from under police protection, driving homicide detective Will Trapper crazy, and he slowly depends on Jim to help. There's humor, suspense, wild chases across suburban Detroit with cops, classic cars and motorcycle clubs; murder, mayhem, a good amount of romance and a twist ending.Jim and his crime fighters, continue in the other books, traveling to Las Vegas twice, back to Detroit and out to New York to solve murders involving dominatrix; mistresses; Bridezillas; magic and strip clubs.Book titles: Classmate Murders; Vegas Showgirl Murders; Dominatrix Murders; Mistress Murders; Bridezilla Murders; Magic Murders; Strip Club Murders and Made-for-TV Murders.

Murder from Rags to Riches - Bob Moats
Chapter 1
Isat on the folding chair by the side door of my new van. I was watching my girlfriend, Sally, sunbathing on the new chaise lounge chair she bought to be able to lay out in the sun.
Are we going to see your lawyer about the family fortune?
I asked her.
Eventually, I’m in no rush. The holdings aren’t going anywhere,
she replied.
It’s your choice,
I said. Sally had been homeless for almost ten years, and I was wondering why she wasn’t in a hurry to find out how much of her late father’s fortune she was now worth.
Would you spread lotion on my back so I can turn over?
she asked. I stood and picked up the bottle with the suntan lotion and went to her. She was now on her stomach and untied the bikini strap so I could cover her whole back.
She was making little noises as I ran my hands across her back spreading the lotion.
I finished and went back to my chair. I heard someone say Nick Cain
out loud and I turned to see a man coming around the back of the van. He was followed by Bill Edwards, Sargent in the local police.
Hey, Bill what’s up?
I asked.
Nick, this is Agent Malloy, FBI. Turns out Sally’s ex-stepmother, Margaret Whitfield AKA Janischewski has a long record of cons with rich men she married and murdered.
He saw Sally on the chaise and she was looking back at the men.
She reached back to tie the straps of her bikini top and sat up. I never trusted her,
Sally said.
When we sent a request for her history it sent up a flag to the FBI and they called us,
Bill said. They had her on file for a couple years, but she was always one step ahead of the Febbies. She’s in lock up now until we can transfer her to them.
Watch her closely, she’s devious,
Sally said. In the few years I lived with my family, I saw her slowly whittling down my father’s money. She had him twisted around her little pinky.
Well, she’s not going anywhere she can spend money or scam a new husband. Not as long as she’s incarcerated,
Bill said. Now I have a question, why after living in tent city for a number of years aren’t you living in your new mansion you got from your father’s will?
I have lived here for long enough to make a few friends and I enjoyed camping out. I’m in no rush to be coddled by servants and wander around a big lonely house. That’s not a crime, it’s my choice,
Sally responded.
Yes it is, Ms. Whitfield. May you enjoy living homeless a while longer,
Bill said and took the FBI agent back around the van.
Sally stood and came to me. I’m doing the right thing, aren’t I?
she asked me.
"As you said, it’s your choice. I’d
