About this ebook
In this third of the Nick Cain series, Nick and his lady invite Detective Bill Edwards and his wife to the mansion for a fancy dinner. Things start to fall apart after dinner when a body is found on the property, Local police are called but nothing is found pointing to a killer. Later after everyone is getting ready for bed another body is found on the property and it's very similar to the fiirst. The reason for the murders points to another reason, one that can harm Nick's girlfriend Sally. This book is a novella, shorter than a novel but longer than a short story.
Bob Moats
Detroit area resident, Bob Moats, has been writing short stories and plays for as long as he can remember. He has lost most of his original stories, typed or handwritten, in the numerous moves he has made from his hometown of Fraser, Michigan to Northern Michigan, to Las Vegas and back to Fraser, where he now lives. Moats became one of the causalities of unemployment a year ago, and had time on his hands to finally pursue a life long dream of writing a full blown crime novel. Thus was born the first book, "Classmate Murders".What followed was a series of seven books starting with "The Classmate Murders" which introduces the main character, Jim Richards, who has to admit he has become a senior citizen, reluctantly. Richards, one day, receives an email from a childhood sweetheart asking for his help, but by the time he reaches her, she has been murdered. His life turns around and he is pulled into numerous murders of women from his high school who he hasn't seen in forty years. Along with a friend of his, Buck, a big, mustached biker, they go off to track down the killer before he can get to one former classmate, Penny Wickens, a TV talk show host who Jim has just fallen for while protecting her. The killer is also murdering the women right out from under police protection, driving homicide detective Will Trapper crazy, and he slowly depends on Jim to help. There's humor, suspense, wild chases across suburban Detroit with cops, classic cars and motorcycle clubs; murder, mayhem, a good amount of romance and a twist ending.Jim and his crime fighters, continue in the other books, traveling to Las Vegas twice, back to Detroit and out to New York to solve murders involving dominatrix; mistresses; Bridezillas; magic and strip clubs.Book titles: Classmate Murders; Vegas Showgirl Murders; Dominatrix Murders; Mistress Murders; Bridezilla Murders; Magic Murders; Strip Club Murders and Made-for-TV Murders.

Chapter 1
Sally called Marylou at the mansion. Nick and I are coming for one of your special dinners. We are bringing a friend to eat with us, so set up for three.
He’s not bringing a friend?
Marylou asked.
Hmm...I don’t know. Set for four and if it changes, I’ll call you."
Thank you, Miss Sally. We’ll have everything ready for you when you let me know when to be prepared.
Thank you, Marylou. See you later,
she said and hung up. Well, the dinner is going to be set up. Remind me to ask Bill if he is bringing a guest. Is he married?
Sally asked.
I haven’t any idea. I’ve never really sat with Bill long enough to find out,
I said.
Well, we can have a nice talk tonight. Call Bill and find out when he’s going to be ready,
Sally asked me. And ask him if he’s bringing a friend or a wife so I can tell Marylou.
I called him and asked how close he was to being done with booking. Also, are you bringing a guest, a wife maybe?
I wasn’t sure if I could bring someone, yes, I have a wife I can bring.
Good, I’ll tell Sally so she can be sure the dinner is set for four. Call just before you meet us at the precinct. We can all drive in together.
I’ll do that, talk in a short while,
he said and hung up. I put my phone back in my pocket and told Sally what he said. She called Marylou on the intercom and told her be ready for four people.
I hope our dinner parties won’t be as complicated as this one,
I said.
