About this ebook
Stoney was visited in her office by the concerned parents of a teenage girl who was going to Las Vegas to celebrate her school prom. They wanted to be sure she was all right on the trip but they didn't want the daughter to know they had send Stoney to watch her. Stoney agreed and enlisted the aid of Avery, her dark angel to go along to help. In order to create a cover story as to why she was going along with the senior class to Vegas, she made arrangements with the one male teacher who was going also. After getting him to agree to pretend they were in a relationship, the plan was ready to go. However, the rich young man who had arranged the trip had other plans, ones that would be a danger to the girl Stoney was protecting and the whole class at the prom. This book is a novella, shorter than a novel, but longer than a short story.
Bob Moats
Detroit area resident, Bob Moats, has been writing short stories and plays for as long as he can remember. He has lost most of his original stories, typed or handwritten, in the numerous moves he has made from his hometown of Fraser, Michigan to Northern Michigan, to Las Vegas and back to Fraser, where he now lives. Moats became one of the causalities of unemployment a year ago, and had time on his hands to finally pursue a life long dream of writing a full blown crime novel. Thus was born the first book, "Classmate Murders".What followed was a series of seven books starting with "The Classmate Murders" which introduces the main character, Jim Richards, who has to admit he has become a senior citizen, reluctantly. Richards, one day, receives an email from a childhood sweetheart asking for his help, but by the time he reaches her, she has been murdered. His life turns around and he is pulled into numerous murders of women from his high school who he hasn't seen in forty years. Along with a friend of his, Buck, a big, mustached biker, they go off to track down the killer before he can get to one former classmate, Penny Wickens, a TV talk show host who Jim has just fallen for while protecting her. The killer is also murdering the women right out from under police protection, driving homicide detective Will Trapper crazy, and he slowly depends on Jim to help. There's humor, suspense, wild chases across suburban Detroit with cops, classic cars and motorcycle clubs; murder, mayhem, a good amount of romance and a twist ending.Jim and his crime fighters, continue in the other books, traveling to Las Vegas twice, back to Detroit and out to New York to solve murders involving dominatrix; mistresses; Bridezillas; magic and strip clubs.Book titles: Classmate Murders; Vegas Showgirl Murders; Dominatrix Murders; Mistress Murders; Bridezilla Murders; Magic Murders; Strip Club Murders and Made-for-TV Murders.

Chapter 1
Stoney was enjoying the company of a very handsome man. They were in the throes of total bliss, sweating on the sheets, rolling in passion and then the man started to nibble on Stoney’s nose. She thought this was strange behavior but then he bit a little harder, enough to cause Stoney to wake up and stare into the beady eyes of Loki, her pet ferret. She reached around and grabbed the creature by the waist and lifted him off her, placing him on the bed next to her.
Damn it, Loki. You couldn’t wait until I was finished with him. What do you want?
She glanced at the clock next to her bed and saw it was now after eight. Ah, food.
She pushed the ferret aside and swung her legs over the side of the bed. She slipped into her slippers and stood. Since she slept in the nude, she put on a robe and went out to the kitchen. She pulled out a bowl and put the ferret feed into it, placing it on the floor. The animal bounced over to the bowl and started to eat.
Stoney went to the bathroom and threw off the robe, turning on the water in the tub, feeling it warm up on her hand, then she turned on the shower and stepped into it. She lathered up all her parts and rinsed. She felt something moving at her feet, it was the ferret, bouncing around in the water. She had to laugh watching the animal splashing around, having so much fun.
She stepped out of the tub and toweled herself off, then she picked up the ferret and dried him. He fought her, but she held tightly until he was cleansed of water.
After dressing in her work clothes, tight spandex jumpsuit, knee high boots and a wide belt, she glanced in the full-length mirror so to be sure she was ready. Her well-developed body was a product of many hours of exercise and training in her martial arts. She had a figure that many women would kill for. She unzipped the front to the spandex outfit to reveal her cleavage, pushed up by a well-fitting bra.
She was satisfied with the hooker look that she tried for. It helped distract men she was chasing to bring them to justice. As a private eye, her mission was to defend helpless women against aggressive men who felt they had a right to abuse women. She enjoyed her work and it helped save a number of women from severe injury or death.
She patted Loki on the head and put him in his cage. He ran up to the third level and climbed into his little hammock, tucking his head down. She knew he could get out of his cage, he was so devious, but she let him run loose if he could get out.
She gathered her small purse and placed her gun into it. There weren’t many places to hide the gun in her jumpsuit, so she carried it in her purse. She did have an ankle knife built into the leg of the suit which was handy when needed.
She took her keys from the hook by the door and went out to her car, a 2015 Camaro ZL1 that was a gift from a used car dealer who she helped prove his wife was cheating. She saved him a ton of money in a divorce and he gave her the choice of any car on his lot. She fell for the Camaro and drove it home.
She drove out to her office in the lower part of Detroit. It was not quite a slum, but it was trending that way. She had thought about moving to the suburbs but there was more need for her here. She parked in front of the building and set the car alarm. She went in and to her office and found a man and woman sitting in the lobby.
Are you here to see me?
she asked.
The man stood and asked, Are you Stoney Hawk?
I am, please come in,
she said as she unlocked the door. She disabled the alarm and went to her desk after offering two chairs to the couple. They all sat, and Stoney asked, What is it you need?
We were recommended to you by a woman who told us you were very helpful in protecting her from a stalker.
I try to help those in need, yes.
We have an odd request, we need our daughter protected and made sure she is safe on a trip to Las Vegas,
he continued.
Stoney sat back in her chair and waited.
Let me explain. Our daughter goes to a private school in the Pointes. It only takes children from well-to-do families. It costs a fortune to go there. This year the school’s prom was going to be held at a local country club, but one student, who made a small fortune in developing video games, offered to fly everyone to Las Vegas and have their prom in the Wynn Hotel. Our daughter, Lisa, is very enthused about going. We don’t want her to miss her prom, but we are concerned about her safety. She’s seventeen and acts like she’s twenty-five, so we are concerned.
Okay, so you want me to go along as her chaperone?
No, we want her to think we trust her with such a big venture. We’d like you to go along and covertly watch over her, not letting her know we sent a babysitter. Does this make sense?
Now that I know what you are after, I’ll have to agree. It’s best to trust your daughter, but it’s good to have safeguards in case of problems. I’m sure I can handle it. I presume you are going to pay my way and hotel accommodations, plus expenses.
Of course. All expenses paid,
the man said.
"I will have to have an associate go with me, as back-up. He’ll
