About this ebook

'Katie Miller never expected the proposition that puts her love life on a collision course with her past, that has her up against a wall, tied up and bound to the desires of the man that got away...'
Samuel Benedict has been gone for 10 years. But now he is back and Katie’s never forgotten the boy she grew up with—the only boy who had ever captured her heart as well as her other secret desires. This Samuel is different from the person she knew ten years ago - now a devastatingly handsome man with a forceful yet mysterious demeanor that oozes sex appeal - he is determined to get Katie back in his life, at any cost. But is it possible that he wants more than what they had a decade ago? Will they be able to remain just friends, or is the desire for something more too intense for either of them to resist?

This ebook contains very hot and explicit descriptions of romantic activity. Only mature readers should download this book.

Katie was well aware that her laugh sounded both dreamy and affected. She couldn’t help it. The man standing in front of her was ridiculously beautiful. Yes, beautiful was the right word. As his fingers brushed against Katie’s, her smile vanished. An electric current shot through her arm, up her shoulder, and filled her with an inexplicable heat that twisted her navel into knots. The trickle of liquid seeping from between her legs made her thighs tense. She found herself blushing, heating up, her ears exuding steam. She was in a bookstore.

Thank you, she said. But it’s a little weird. She spoke with a shy smile on her face, tugging at the book, which, ridiculously, they both held. She made a conscious effort to avoid touching his hand again, but the man was adamant, and his long, tanned fingers gripped the book tighter.

I know it must seem a trifle odd, he said.

She choked back another burst of dreamy laughter. He was gorgeous. Yeah, she said, scrunching up her nose. She couldn’t deny that it was odd—quite odd.

His answering grin made Katie’s heart stop. She inhaled deeply, and her eyes became stubbornly affixed to his mouth: Perfectly chiseled, masculine lips that stretched over perfect teeth. How could someone be so flawless? His face triggered a long lost memory. It only lasted for a brief second before his blue eyes narrowed at her face.

It was almost as if he was waiting for something: Like he was counting on something happening, though he doubted it would. He looked slightly disappointed.

Katie was taken aback, and for some reason, she abandoned the book they held.

Their encounter had been brief, but she liked him. He was very interesting.

Smiling, he strode toward the counter. I suppose if I offered to buy you a drink instead of this book, you’d be fine with that?

Katie swallowed as he walked ahead of her. Her eyes forayed over his wide shoulders, which were covered with a preppy gray sweater, which accentuated his biceps and his contoured back. Katie tried not to have any licentious thoughts about him, but at that instant, she was helplessly fantasizing about scraping her nails over his skin.

Silently, he paid for her book and handed her the brown paper bag. Here’s your book. With that, he smiled. I believe I didn’t catch your name. He smiled as if there was an inside joke at play that Katie was a part of, but wasn't privy to.

    Katie, she told him.

Hi, Katie, he said. We meet again.

Katie waited for him to introduce himself, but instead he extended his hand to her jokingly. She took it. Warmth and electric heat traveled up her arm again, but this time there was something about his eyes that made her stop short—his lips, his sharp jawline.

Oh, my God! she breathed shortly. Her mouth fell open. The lust and driving need swirled through her body, numbing her brain. She knew who this was, or at least she thought she knew. But he was so different.

His piercing eyes studied her face, his warm hand now clasping hers. Is there something wrong? he asked.

Maybe she was mistaken. Maybe this wasn’t...

    Samuel? she asked.

His jaw clenched, and he inhaled deeply before his lips rewarded her with a lopsided, quirky grin that she would recognize anywhere.

Oh, my god! she cried loudly, pushing the book up to her lips in disbelief.

    Hey, Katie, he said.

It’s you! She choked from laughter and blushed. Even though it was him and she was ecstatic, there was something very wrong with the situation. The lust, the naked hunger tightening her navel into knots, shouldn’t have been there.

    It’s me, he said.

Katie laughed and freed her hand from his grasp, tentatively throwing her arms over his shoulders and hugging him briefly. It should’ve felt right, but it felt wrong, almost as if she was doing something taboo.

Her cheeks burning, she released him, fighting the sensual scent that filled her nostrils and her ribcage. I can't believe it, she said, eying his shoulders stupidly. Look at you! You’ve grown—you’re huge.

He laughed, his eye sparkling, and Katie bit her tongue. She knew what he was thinking. She barely even knew what she was saying anymore.

You’ve grown huge? she repeated to herself. It sounded kind of wrong, or maybe her brain had turned extremely filthy all of a sudden.

How’d you know it was me? she asked. How’d you find me?

He clasped her elbow, heralding her out of the store. The patch of skin where his fingers touched her felt scorched—literally. His body temperature had always been higher than normal, so he always seemed hot to the touch. She remembered that perfectly, but this time, the heat of him was adding to the fire already burning between her legs.

    What is wrong with me?

She felt like she was lusting after a minor, or even a cousin. It was almost wrong, because they’d know each other when they were teenagers. They’d been buddies. He told her about his girlfriends, she told him about period cramps—that sort of thing.

    And now…

I went to your apartment and saw you leaving, he said. So I followed you here. I wanted to see if you’d recognize me.

    And I did.

Well… He chortled sexily, crinkling his nose.

Her heart stopped beating for a second, and for a moment there was only utter silence in the loud, loud world. She could almost hear him breathing.

He was adorable. She was switching her evaluation of hunky, drop-dead gorgeous to adorable. He was the ultimate package. He was cute, yet too virile for that adjective to be suitable for him. He was almost feral, like a wild animal. His slightly long hair, streaked blond from the Australian sun, framed his sharp jawline.

It took a while, she said, but I did recognize you.

Yeah, you did, he said, and threw his arm around her shoulders, squeezing her closer to his side.

Katie blushed, and when she looked at him, she knew he had noticed. He was looking at her cheeks in amazement.

Are you okay? He grinned lopsidedly again and Katie blushed some more.

Katie felt like a child. He was affecting her heart rate and he knew it. He was amused.

Suddenly, Katie had the most wonderful flashback. She had wrestled with this same guy when he was a skinny, gangly teenager. He was bossy and always domineering. He always had to have the last word, always had to win. He was competitive to the point of being obnoxious, and she had fought with him all the time.

Like what you see? he asked.

Katie smacked him in the arm playfully. Stop it.

He laughed, his head fallen back. The deep, throaty sound made her heart flutter erratically. Trust me, I like what I see too.

Katie chuckled, blushing madly. I’m not checking you out if that’s what you mean.

    Aren’t you?

No! Katie shot back laughingly, enjoying herself immensely.

Well, that’s too bad, because I am. His eyes lazily dropped to her lips, trailing down her throat to her breasts.

Katie instinctively sucked her chest in, trying to hide herself from his scorching gaze. His expression changed immediately—becoming serious and sober. He wasn’t kidding anymore. He really was checking her out. Surprisingly, her irrational lust for the man seemed appropriate all of a sudden. If he was thinking the same way, there was no harm done, right?

    Right?

She tried to turn away from his heated gaze, but couldn’t. His expression was intense, almost as if he were deeply engrossed in his appraisal of her body—like he didn’t want to be disturbed.

    Sam, she whispered.

He returned his gaze to her face with difficulty and sighed. Yes, Katie.

    The charged atmosphere between them
