About this ebook
“Empathy prescribed
to progress and disagree
without iniquities or conflict
to exist together while being me.”
“Chemicals that bind to create adhering matter
vital to humanity and impossible to scatter
unanimously living, blissful as can be
scheming sorrow out of life
the synthesis of you and me.”
While living in different locales around the world, Ella Vega was provided the opportunity to understand culture, societies, and human behavior. It is with this diverse, global perspective that she shares her first collection of poems that reflects on today’s society and individuals.
Vega, a Costa Rican-American writer, encourages us to reach inside ourselves, despite living within a divisive and uncertain world, and realize that we are similar and that our human experiences are still rooted in basic feelings and thoughts. With deep tone and nostalgic sentiment, her rhythmic poems touch on diverse topics such as the birth of new ideas, the polarization of the world, the quest for meaning, and an objective description of emotions.
Empathy Prescribed is a compilation of poems that brings back the relevance of written verse during an uncertain time for the world and its people.
Ella Vega
Ella Vega is a Costa Rican-American writer who first fell in love with words at age twelve. She penned poetry mostly in Spanish, until she recently took the leap and tackled emoting through the English language. Originally an architect major, Ella discovered a beautiful blend in the composition and structure of visual art with that of the written word. Ella is also a wife and mother who represents both the hearing impaired and epileptic communities.

About the Poems in This Book
Acknowledgments
To my children, Priscilla and Samuel,
you inspire me to create and achieve.
To my high-school Spanish teacher, Don Victor,
your persistence and passion for perfection
are the reason I fell in love with words.
cosmos.jpgTHE QUANTIFICATION OF THE WORLD
It all started with time
the day turned into night
a continuation of life’s flow
based on the quantity of light
contriving how much is owed.
Thus, currency is involved
granted, the need for a measure
to barter adhering to fairness
obvious consequence to some: treasure
and to others desolate scantness.
It all started with a need
and who extinguishes paucity
aiding destitute who share grunts
fallen, unfortunate in scarcity
all those prey to life’s cruel hunts.
Consequence of one extreme
is the greed in creating more wealth
nothing is nearly enough for myself
not sparing even a few
for the unfortunate matter of you.
