It was quite a revelation and a mindshift.

In the midst of loadshedding, raging storms and devastating floods and winds, and everything but a gorgeous spring, I was totally flattened for two weeks by the new Covid variant. When I eventually staggered from my bed, I had absolutely no lust for life.

Is this all there is? I wondered pessimistically.

And then a substantial report, The Age of Re-enchantment, from trend gurus Wunderman Thompson landed in my inbox. What a relief! It was not just me who felt that way; most of the world is bone-weary, and longing for happiness, amazement and magical enchantment.
