    INTRODUCTION

In 1968 I was 8 years old our family lived on Perry St this was a small older house but our family love being together. It was my mom and dad three sisters and one brother.

Our house was right across the street from a industrial plant. So, we didn’t have a lot of neighbors. Except 1: Miss Katherine and her dog Jigs, who was a white Pitbull. She must have been O C D because anytime jigs messed in the yard, she would follow him around with a Kleenex or napkin and pick it up.

I just remembered that she had the best black grapes on her Grapevine. They were the grapes with the thick skin and inside was so sweet. My younger sister and I shared a bedroom and I our bedroom we had a furnace that would make noise.

My sister and I would tell it to shut up and we really thought that when the noise stopped it was because we told it to stop. I have deep dimples 3 of them and my mother told me it was because the Angels kissed me 3 times before I was born.

So, I really believe it. that night I was sleeping well, and I heard a soft voice say my name. I said yes but everybody was sound asleep. So, I didn’t think much about it, so I went back to sleep, then I heard my name again . I said yes again but everyone was still asleep this really puzzled me.

My grandmother lived down the alley from us and I know I was her favorite grandchild. And she was my favorite also. I told her about the soft voice I heard calling my name in the middle of the night. She told me if I heard someone call my name again, just say Yes Lord.

My grandmother was about 4 feet 11 inches tall not too big, but boy did she have hinny on her. I swear you can set a table on it! Family would say that was where I got my hinny from lol. Grandma was a very religious woman and we went to church with her every Sunday. No exception! She always made sure she tithed even if she didn’t have a lot of money. But one thing about her she knew her Bible and she lived by the word.

I always love God and love going to church as far back as I can remember. My father was a good dad and he loved his garden. Mother never had to buy any vegetables. She would just pick them from the garden. My mother had a beautiful spirit and loved helping people. I was about 8 years old and I loved my church called the upper room. You had to go upstairs to the sanctuary (The Upper Room).

I always had a bubbly personality. I love to ask questions. I believe my father saw God in me. I asked him to go to church with me one Sunday (Apostolic Church) and my father started going to church with me EVERY Sunday.

My mother and siblings went to a Baptist Church. I always asked God for a beautiful voice to
