About this ebook

Poetry expressed in a candid, frank, and sometimes thought provoking detail, with life references to ponder upon. Poetry that expresses a family connection, friendship, love, and relationships with an afterthought inspired through The Divine Book! The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun; well the author illustrates that text with references quoted that relate to the poetry. We all can relate to this poetry, because we all have these connections either personally or through others. This is a contemporary way to read poems. Some may make you smile or cry, or look over your shoulder as though someone were talking to you. Poetry was and is a key to the soul. It is meant to either take you out of reality or wake you up to reality. This book of poems does both; with the author’s poem on Aids, Jail, and Heaven. If you are a child, a mother, a father, a sibling, a friend, have a significant other, have lost a loved one, are concerned about others; all these topics relate to a poem in this book. This book talks to both men and women with quietness and boldness. It is bold with How Dare We and Enough and quiet with Anew and Sweet as Pie. This is a book to read no matter if you are 15, 50 or 99 you will receive something from it. So open it up, and take a walk into the heart; and you don’t have to be a woman to look into your heart. Think of Shakespeare or Langston Hughes. We would not be alive if our heart wasn’t beating to a rhythm. So tune into this woman’s heart of poetry, and perhaps spark something in yours!

Mrs. G

Mrs. G is a native Detroiter. She grew up in the Detroit, Michigan area. She remembers the riots, The Motown era, and when the car industry in Detroit ruled the automotive world. Many of her family migrated from their native roots of N. Carolina to the Midwest, for the automobile industry. It changed many of her families lives, taking them out of the projects into Middle Class America. She moved to California during the 1980’s, then back home to Detroit after her father‘s death. Then from 2002 to 2008 she lived in New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. She moved back to Detroit to care for her mother, where she currently resides. She has lived several chapters in her life, some of them have been as a; Model, Singer, Writer, Mother, and Wife. Working in insurance, accounting, banking, communications, and county government. She has been a member of The School Board, the PTA, the NAACP, Church Choir, Sunday School Teacher, and Deaconess. Her inspiration comes from many experiences in her life; good, bad, traumatic and joyful. She is the middle child of seven siblings; and is married with 2 adult sons, and 2 adult step-children who have blessed her and her husband with 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She has a motto “don’t give up, don’t give in, don’t stop living; God is in charge and if you’re still breathing He’s not done with you yet!”

    DEDICATIONS

To Our Father God which art in Heaven, His Son Jesus who sits at the right hand of The Father, and The Holy Spirit who is inside of me; who am I without you? I am nothing, and I thank you for giving me everything including salvation, and eternal life.

To my husband Thurland, who inadvertently was the subject of some of my poetry, you are God fearing, full of wisdom, full of laughter, and life. You are my sweet, compassionate, caring, kindhearted, lover and soul mate. I thank you honey for your support and for leaving the room when I was on the computer. Love you.

To my two sons, DeWaun and Samuel (Paul). I love you both in your own special way. You two have been inspiration for my life and for my poetry! We have been on an amazing journey and have supported each other all the way. Sometimes you gave me joy or tears, then smiles, friendship and always love. I challenged you to do your best, not just for me, but also for God and for yourself. I love you both and I am proud of you! To my stepchildren, Laura (Jerome), Lawrence, Jennifer and your families, I love you and I thank God for you!

To my Mother Mary, you and Daddy (Robert, passed 22 years ago and was the first man who loved me. He encouraged and lifted my esteem telling me how beautiful, smart and proud he was of me his #3 daughter, who he loved as he did for his number 1, 2, 4, and 5 daughters, love you daddy!) Were instrumental in who I am today. You were great parents then and you are still a wonderful mother now, you support, uplift, and give to the utmost, you show a real example of a Christian mother, I love you Momma!

To my sister Rose, the bravest and strongest woman I know. You lost someone who will never be forgotten and I know it is God who is giving you strength and courage to make it through. For you, Bro-in-law Miller; Donathan, Dezmund and Brianna (just to name a few); keep your head to the sky and your heart in God’s hands. Your precious one, my niece Natalie, went on to be with The Lord.
