Chosen to Witness His Greatness
()
About this ebook
Chosen to witness His Greatness is about gaining a greater understanding of the truth that God wanted you for Himself before your existence. The book highlights the needed sacrifice of Jesus Christ as God’s overall intended plan to birth a generation of sons and daughters from His Spirit. The acceptance of God’s wisdom by receiving the final work of His son Jesus, grants any human being the right to live on this earth under His protection. The book highlights the importance of studying God’s word with the mindset that the scriptures are meant to reveal the evidence of His love and the enemy’s plan to distract and detour believers by using emotions, shame, guilt and even loved ones to cause Christians to question the righteousness that is given free in Christ Jesus graciously.

I
dedicate this book to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I honor my father and mentor, the late Melton Peter Hypolite. He was unique and unarguably authentic in his love for Jesus Christ. Challenged, his earlier years in life were quite frustrating; his latter became glorious when he finally surrendered all to Christ. Daddy was and still is inspirational in my life. I miss him dearly. The declarations he made over me as a child, has been fulfilled through the love I finally came to know in Jesus Christ. I am grateful for Daddy believing in me. Acknowledgements
I want to thank my loving, caring, and supportive husband, Francis Eman-Henshaw. He has been highly instrumental in making this book a reality. I could not have done this without him. Francis has unselfishly given me the flexibility of being available to pray and minister to those the Lord has placed in my path from early morning to late evenings. His love for the Lord is expressed through his reverence of the Lord’s call over my life and his own. My husband’s words of encouragement keep me at peace and focused, knowing that the Lord is working through both of us, orderly. I love you Francis.
I also thank my sweet and endearing grandmother Goldie Mae Robertson. She is one testimony that all things are possible with our Lord. Throughout this book, she has only spoken words of encouragement. Her words of confidence in me echo the words of my late father’s. I love you Grand-ma.
I also want to thank my beautiful dear mother, Vivian Mary Trosclair, who has impacted my life throughout the years. The grace of God over her life has given her strength in areas she had not known was possible. She persevered to raise five little ones despite barriers that tried to rob her of her peace and many times even her very life. I thank her for seeing it through. I love you momma.
I say thank you to my exceptional daughter, Britny Michelle Isesele. She has been strategic in the entire book project. Britny has been the spiritual visionary alongside with me during this whole journey. Although she is actively pursuing her degree, married, and care for my four little adorable grandbabies that require her full attention and service, my daughter has played a significant role in capturing the beautiful cover that represented the image the Lord has placed in my heart. I say thank you for reading my drafts and praying with me throughout the process. I say thank you for believing in me and being the light that God has called you to be. There is no other mother-daughter relationship to mimic ours. I am grateful.
I want to thank my son, (by marriage and heart), Travelle Eman-Henshaw, who also played a crucial role in selecting the theme for my book cover. The time and dedication he sacrificed apart from his studies are much appreciated. He has helped me to remain focused on making a vision a reality. I thank him for believing in me.
I want to thank my son Ernest Joseph Hypolite for taking the time to read my drafts and appreciate the importance of spreading the love of Jesus Christ. I thank him for those late-night discussions regarding the passages within the book and providing your honest feedback. I thank him for believing in me.
I want to thank my son, Blaine Anthony Hypolite for his overall support and encouragement to pursue the endeavors that the Lord has placed in my heart. I thank him for his diligence, especially during the marketing phase. I thank him for believing in me.
I want to thank my daughter, (by marriage and heart), Folarin Eman-Henshaw for her overall support and encouragement during the book project. I thank her for extending herself in the backdrop.
I want to thank my dearest sister and closest friend Doctor Faati Isass Myers and her wonderful husband Robert Myers. I thank them for their words of encouragement. Dr. Fati’s love and words of wisdom are priceless. Her level of importance goes beyond her profession, but she always makes herself available to me. Her prayers and influence have been impactful during the book project. Her counsel and instructions have taken my health to the level of perfection that the Lord originally intended for me. Every diet regimen she prescribed; I have followed. This has helped me to remain focused and energetic. I am forever grateful.
I want to thank the publishing company, Westbow Press, for its patience and diligence in aiding me during this entire project.
Introduction
The screen door slammed behind me as I rushed into Grandma’s shack with a dirty doll in my hand. Gasping for breath, I needed to clarify my actions before my grandmother decided to chase me with her broom. I found her in the ditch, Grandma. She is the baby doll I have wanted. I only need soap and water.
My grandmother chuckled. She cupped her hands to her mouth and spewed out Creole words I did not recognize. Lil gal,
she retorted while struggling to collect herself. It was random when she used our names. Take your doll in the bathroom! She smells terrible!
She understood my adamancy about keeping the doll and gave me dishwashing liquid and a bucket of water.
This doll won my affection despite her dirty hair and body. The stench did not affect me. Someone abandoned her, believing she was no longer good enough. My cousins had looked at me with disgust when I lifted her from the ditch. However, the value I placed on her was nonnegotiable and called for no one else’s approval.
Her locks were grimy. It required most of my attention. I continued to bathe the rest of her body. I changed her bathwater three times and allowed her to soak for an hour. She looked just as I had imagined. I named her Patricia.
What is the relevance of this story? God showed me a revelation about that day as I meditated one early afternoon. He wants me to Himself. The Lord looks at me with joy, excitement, compassion, and love. He picked me! And I responded. Patricia accepted everything I did to her, not knowing what she did to deserve it. Envision the love that the Lord has for you. Every other opinion is insignificant—even your own.
I still remember how lonely I felt during my childhood years. That void continued into my adult years with the wrong idea of being a good person.
It frustrated me. I had lost my identity. But the Lord opened my eyes. We must discover our identity in Jesus Christ. We try to repair ourselves, but we can’t. He chooses us despite our failures. Please be open-minded and patient with me as I expose this truth with supporting scriptures throughout this book.
CHAPTER 1
He Chose to Love You
I had conversations with the Lord at nine years old. I wasn’t sure if He heard me or even viewed my concerns as significant. I had learned this practice one day as I witnessed my father looking up to the ceiling with such intensity. His lips were moving, while no sound was coming out. After he had finished, he kissed the cross he was wearing around his neck. Intoxicated, his eyes were in tears as he looked at me and explained that he kissed the cross because, to him, it was a representation of Jesus Ch rist.
I couldn’t understand it, but as I reflect on that day, I believe his expressions resulted from feeling regret and disappointment in himself. Dad had experienced broken promises, feelings of failure, and the desire to get overall approval. He was a confused little boy who grew up not knowing how to trust, while trying to cover shame, guilt, loneliness, abandonment, and not knowing the Lord.
Many of us, like my father, take so much of the hurt we have endured over time, and we misappropriate it into our own method of decision-making. And once we have exhausted our efforts of trying to discover the solution to our anxieties and lack of peace, we eventually look to a higher power, hoping that we can connect with something greater than our limited existence. The Lord has purposely designed human beings to depend on Him.
My father’s hurt was so much more than I could grasp because of my ignorance concerning the weight that life and wrong choices could bring. However, despite challenges, God cares about everything concerning us. It may not look like it initially, but the Lord provides the grace needed. He supplies it for the believer and the nonbeliever. The rain falls on the just and the unjust.
Mimicking my father, I would enter the bathroom closet, or my room closet, when my sister wasn’t present, and I would talk to God. Most of
