Sherril Lee Griffin is a poet and author of her first book. She was born in Orlando, Florida and grew up throughout Florida. She currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida. She was raised by a Single mother and her grandparents were a major influence on her life. Her grandparents are deceased. Sherril is currently married with one son. Poetry has always been close to her heart and she found it as a form of therapy to release certain feelings and emotions that have plagued her throughout childhood and adulthood. The poems are expressed in a manner in which people of all ages can relate. Her 2nd book will be a novel. It will be released later this year so stay tuned.

A Poem for the Kitties

Hurt, Crushed, Scorned, Never Bitter

Like a Sour Lemon, Tart without the Sugar

See, I allowed my Feline to get brutally beaten by two vicious canines

Was it a trick or was I out of my mind?

Carried away by the toils of the day

Infused with contemplation, delays

The pounding, screeching, scratching, rumbling in my jungle

Almost had my kitty stuck, down for the count

One, two, three attack

Will he still remain the same after being pinned down to the mat?

Neglectful, thinking it was time

For my cat to grow up and explore the world

Only for the world to unfold right before his eyes

He laid at the front door lifeless and mummified

Terrified after encountering what he thought was just two friendly little girls

Kobe Lee after facing pure evil I told you that your world would unfold until…..

How could you devour my flesh?

Then depart

Thoughts of depression, abandonment to start

Like an empty nest

No notice or eviction

Only heartfelt pain in my chest

See, you were homeless when we met

Strolling around in alleys

Beating, eating up other kitty cats

Now you have a Super Ego

Macho man, Black Stallion

The Best

To caress my most inner Desires

Until……….

Karma?

Karma has the most beautiful reflection that no one notices except you

You can recognize the reflection; it’s time for your demise

Remove yourself from the corner, come out it’s time to rumble

You previously battled like a beast; it’s not time to fumble

All you can do is accept what was strategically placed in the atmosphere

Who’s the Superhero now, where’s the S?

Now who’s the vicious beast?

You tried us just like a snake in the grass

Waiting for the appropriate time to kill us with your deadly venom

The voice of my mother then came to me, Pray for your enemies, remember?

Ok, Karma have mercy, be gentle.

Two Hearts

Two hearts intertwined with sheer love and affection

Released for the entire world to see without hesitation

Pure musical balanced on the scales of sincerity

Your love carried me away into the land of never ever until eternity

Eternity is not long enough to contain the ties of wondrous elevated bliss

That started from a simple prayer, our first meeting, and our first kiss

The volcano moment like a thunderous cave exploded with dynamite

Our first Earthquake erupted
