About this ebook

Have you ever felt stagnant because you didn’t know how to process the pain in your life? Has the pain from your past created deep wounds in your heart that need healing? Healing Empowerment of the Heart and Mind: How to Turn Your Pain Into Purpose embraces and guides you on your journey to emotional healing so that you can be empowered to step outside the shadows of your past and walk freely in the purpose that God has destined for your life.

This book shares my testimony of the healing journey that I had to embrace, which compelled me to share my story of how God healed my broken heart from the pain of my past. Throughout each chapter, you will reflect and go through the process of facing your past, learning how to forgive, embracing your identity in Jesus Christ, and discovering your purpose to birth your destiny. True healing begins at the cross where Jesus bore our pain. If we desire to be emotionally whole and completely healed from the pain of our past, we must be transparent with God and ourselves so that we can heal in all areas of our life as we learn to change our thought patterns about whom we are based on how Christ sees us. It is through receiving the love of Jesus Christ in our hearts that we receive healing, and our lives are transformed as his healing power gives us the freedom to turn our pain into purpose.

P AIN IS INEVITABLE. It does not care what color we are, where we live, or how much money we make. Pain is a part of our lives we cannot escape, yet, serves a purpose. It is up to us to tell our pain its purpose, to give it a definition, and Courtney’s book, Healing Empowerment of the Heart and Mind: Turning Your Pain into Purpose, is sure to that and more.

She takes us on a journey that exposes old wounds in order to heal them, empowers us to walk in forgiveness, and prepares us to embrace transition. Her thoughtfulness in reflective questions and Scripture to meditate on makes this process of pain even more meaningful. Her transparency in sharing her story lets us know we are not alone, and her words of encouragement make us feel as if she knows our story too.

Before you dive in, grab your journal, pen and your Bible. Whisper a prayer to truly be honest with yourself. Turn the page to Chapter One, and get ready for your healing empowerment.

CONFRONTING YOUR PAST, ACKNOWLEDGING YOUR PAIN

We do not heal the past by dwelling there; we heal the past by living truly in the present.Marianne Williamson

H ELLO PAST! YOU tried to destroy me, but God had other plans for my life. God tells me in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, thoughts of good and not of evil, to prosper you and to give you a future and a hope, and I trust His promises. Confronting your past will be one of the most difficult challenges on your journey to wholesome emotional healing of your heart and mind. For some it may mean that you must mentally replay all the hurt, pain, betrayal, abandonment, and more that you have experienced in your life thus far. How do I know this? I cannot speak about what I have not experienced; therefore, for me to move forward with my life, God beckoned me to confront my past. You see after experiencing hurt and pain for so many years, I didn’t realize that I had subconsciously suppressed my feelings about my past and brushed them under the rug. However, what I began to see was that the more I ignored my past, the more it replayed in my memory and took root in my soul. The internalization of all those negative experiences and feelings created an emotional imbalance that ultimately had driven my life causing me to grow stagnant in walking in the destiny and purpose that God had assigned for my life. I struggled for years trying to understand why I still
