ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I am grateful to the giver of life, my redeemer, restorer, strength, joy, peace, indeed everything. I exalt you, I praise you and honour your matchless name. Thank you, Oh Lord, for entrusting me with the gift of writing to fulfil my purpose on earth. I am only a vessel. All the praise belongs to you.
I am grateful to my mother, Joan Smith, you are an amazing soul. I wouldn’t have come this far with such substance, had you not live the life you lived and nurture my mind with principles and lessons on which I now rely to live a gracious life. Mother, I cannot repay you but please accept my heartfelt thank you.
I am grateful to the people in my life who are pillars and fit for every season. My brother, Ralinton Smith, I am blessed to know you. You amazed me with your level of wisdom that you used to bring light to my sometimes uneasy mind. You are priceless. My confidant Elizabeth Palmer - Smith, who remains my source of reassurance that I must go on in spite of. My forever love, Kemeisha Queensborough, for continuously reminding me that I didn’t choose writing, it chose me. Hence I cannot hide. God knows sometimes I wanted to quit but not on her watch. God’s favour to me, Melesia Easie, only if everyone knew the moments you were the reason I got up from where life knocked me down. You do the little things that means everything. I am loving you always.
I am grateful to those who stand in the gap in prayer on my behalf. I dare not list your names but you all know yourselves. Would it be possible if you didn’t pray for my strength? I very much doubt it. I appreciate you all immensely.
I am grateful to everyone who supported my first book ‘Beautiful Mind: Even With a Shattered Soul’. You fuel my strength at times. Thank you also to everyone who promoted it so it reached the hands of those it blessed.
I would like to
dedicate this book to my sons Ray-Jay and Ray-Mar Haynes. Also to my nieces and nephews, Danielle Smith, Aliyah Smith, Faith Smith, Raheim Smith and Kearon Fearon.
INTRODUCTION
Since success is still our desired destination, we can no longer dream dreams that are half pursued, put on hold, or reserved. The desire to live a prosperous and fulfilling life relies heavily on the manifestation of our innate abilities and their maximization, and capturing the essence of time. It is essential that we accompany our desires with actions. It is not satisfactory that we desire something for which we are unwilling to make the ultimate sacrifice. Thoughts are just thoughts if they are left in our heads. Dreams are only dreams if they are without manifestation and left for dead. Desires remain desires if we lack the motivation to move us towards making them tangible. We must breathe life into our visions to give them movement. Action is required for the transformation of what appears to us as mere ideas, but in reality are missions that we are already equipped to make possible. We would have been far more evolved had we not failed to manifest that which we were entrusted with. It is therefore fundamental that we acknowledge the true purpose of our lives and our level of responsibility. Life owes us nothing. We owe life everything. We all have dreams and desires. Therefore, my question to you is, If the sky is the limit, why are you still on the ground? Get soaring. Let A Guide for Young Minds be the fuel that propels you to identify who you are, manifest what you possess, and make available what the next generation is relying on to live an effective and efficient life.
A MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR
Dear Readers,
This book was strategically put together especially for you. I want to challenge you to seek a new mind-set regarding who you are and the greatness you possess. The aim is to introduce to you a new perspective or even a reminder of how extraordinary you are and the importance of seeing your life through a new lens. Time is of the essence, and the moment for your manifestation is now. The very moment I came to the realization of who I am and what I possess, I became concerned by the thought that many people have yet to realize who they truly are. Because you were created out of greatness, you are indeed great. Therefore, it is my desire to provoke your consciousness to the extent that you not only come to this realization, but you are ready to take the necessary steps to birth your extraordinary life. You are purposeful, and together we are going to manifest that which we were entrusted with so we can contribute to this world.
The most rewarding aspect of living your purpose is that you are not motivated by monetary gain even though that will be one of the many rewards. Anything you do—and do to the best of your ability—will reward you immensely. However, the ultimate gain from being driven by purpose is not financial prosperity but the state of your well-being. There is immense peace, satisfaction, contentment, fulfilment, and gratification when you know that you are doing what you were created to do. Engaging your natural God-given ability is a clear sign that you are being purposeful. When you are driven by purpose, there is no sense of competition with others. You are very much aware that you were specially chosen and equipped for your purpose, and so is everyone else chosen and equipped for theirs. There is no hierarchy of importance in gifting, I believe, because every
