Of the three children, Kate is convinced the potatoes are watching them through their eyes. Her persistence with Mr. White and Mr. Red Potato and Miss Sweet Potato pays off in a very rewarding way. By the end of the story the readers curiosity is keen on knowing just what the potatoes have to say.
In her seventh book, the author, Barbara Winningham uses a natural playful setting along a creek to reveal an important message to the inquisitive children. As in life, it is often in the most unexpected place or setting that we are rewarded with good news. Of course, the best part of the story is the childrens chance to share the good news with their parents.

Barbara Winningham

Barbara Winningham and her husband, Jack, have parented seven children as well as taking on the roles of foster parents and host parents to various children in need and foreign exchange students. Barbara’s eldest son, Bobby, passed away at the age of twelve due to complications of spina bifida. Her stories are the products of the many children that have influenced her life and, in turn, were influenced by her.
