The Turtle Pit tells the story of a baby box turtle who is always getting in troubles. Rowdy B. continually ignores Mama Turtles warnings which lead to him having to pay a price for his mistake.
Rowdy B. has many friends who try to keep him out of trouble. His brothers and sisters roam the fields with him, while feasting on the wild strawberries.

Barbara Winningham and her husband, Jack, have parented seven children as well as taking on the roles of foster parents and host parents to various children in need and foreign exchange students.
