Slicko has met Mappo, the Merry Monkey, and he takes her to see what a circus is. Slicko is curious about everything and asks many questions while listening to the boys and men shout about ‘pink lemonade,’ ‘ice cream cones,’ and ‘peanuts.’ She had heard of peanuts from a squirrel who came from the city and talked about how children fed them peanuts. Slicko runs off when the circus men come after Mappo and starts to gather nuts when she hears a noise crashing through the forest.
