About this ebook

From the age of fifteen, my motto was, Wherever you see injustice, stop it. Growing up, I came to realize that I cant.

I have used my writing to defend my rights and the rights of others. When I was helpless and powerless, I still continued to write to empower myself and have some sense of control over my life. My writing is my voice, and these poems speak what I cannot say to anyone else but God.

My poetry is my recovery from the past and how I freed myself from it. I hope it inspires you to do the same.

Stand up and tell the truth no matter what it costs because the price is always worth it.

From Motherhood to Military Coach: The Evolution of a Poet
Author

Farah Husain

Farah Husain has recently come to light, establishing herself as an author and artist. Her background in psychology and teaching has lead her from primary school to working with excluded young people, whilst also gaining experience as a Counsellor and Life Coach to Military personnel. Stepping out of the shadows are her thought provoking pieces of poetry that have been collated within this collection to highlight the hardships she has overcome and resilience that the human body can endure in order to achieve lifes aspirations. Whilst the appearance of the author may be unsuspecting, living within the suburbs of London with her family, it is perhaps her life beneath the surface that shines between each line of her expressive and emotionally evocative poems.

This book is dedicated to everyone I have come across in my life who has helped me to become the person I always wanted to be.

My friends, my family, my enemies and frenemies.

    God bless you all.

Above of all I dedicate this book to Samaa, Naasir, Amaani, Yousef, Jasmine and Kameron. The future belongs to you. Create the life of your dreams and don’t let anything or anyone stop you.

    EVER

To all who find this book my challenge to you is for you to believe in yourself, fight for your dreams with love, compassion and patience and win the game of life by being the wonderful, beautiful, fully self, expressed soul that you are meant to be.

    PREFACE

    Free yourself

    For the reader

My book runs as a stream of consciousness and thoughts, and my words hit the page at lightning speed with no punctuation or grammatical concern.

I have looked over my work and added in changes as I see fit, however you will find poems here that will twist your mind and turn your perceptions into something new. This is deliberate and reflects the roller coaster that my life has been.

I have put in punctuation so that you have a chance to breathe, otherwise just enjoy the ride which I can only describe as being at soul speed.

    INTRODUCTION

I have been a writer since I was eight years old, creating novels in exercise books and tormenting my school teachers with stories spanning over thirty pages for them to mark.

This autobiographical poetry spanning thirty three years, charts my evolution as a writer from when I was 17 to being the mother of four small children to when I became a youth and Military coach.

Working with survivors of abuse, trauma, domestic violence, young people, soldiers and addicts from all walks of life, I was inspired to write this book as a testament to their courage, tenacity and resilience under some of the most psychologically extreme experiences I have witnessed.

I have done my best to translate these experiences into words and hope my poetry does justice to all those young warriors out there who are fighting for the life of their dreams.
