About this ebook

Being a first-time author of my first book, Be a Blessing, is a story that portrays the analogy of a once scared and broken young woman that wanted to quit on life until God intervened and turned my mess into a message of hope, a caterpillar that later transforms into a beautiful butterfly.

An out-of-body experience in 2014, as I lay lifeless on that emergency table, catapulted my being into who I am today. The words spoken into my spirit still resonates in my heart today. A life for a life! You did not live in the forty-six years prior! Today, you have begun life! You will understand my word and speak it forth with a comprehension that usually takes a human being a lifetime to grasp.

As an evangelist and entrepreneur speaking, mentoring, and training other leaders in purpose, I have come to see and know that I am not a motivational speaker! I am a speaker of truth!

    TASTELESS SALT IS WORTHLESS

A fter extensive prayer and fasting, I finally buckled down and sent a text, something I knew would be the hardest thing for me to do. For I’ve often shared with my spiritual father about the situation more than once, but I knew that when the time comes, it wouldn’t be easy. I rehearsed it over and over again and then put it on the back burner. I thought when the time was right, I would probably still not be able to do it. But this time around was different. I was different. I was stronger. I was now sure of who I was. It was time for me to spread my wings and fly. My text message was short and brief:

Dad, just to let you know before you hear it from someone else because I’ve often told you that if it ever came down to it, you would be the first to know. My family will be relocating by the end of this year or beginning of the New Year. We can sit and talk about it.

After erasing it, rewriting it, saving it, and sleeping on it within the next day or so, I finally pushed Send.

It took a few days, and then I finally received an e-mail that was a page and a half long. It spoke of the store owner (God), the jeweler (my spiritual father), and the diamond (me). As I read my father’s heart, I was broken in more ways than one. I totally understood his heart as I always had. If I was who I was a couple of months or a year ago, I probably would’ve agreed that I wasn’t ready. This time around, I was at peace and knew that it was time.

This could in no way be possible if I had not gone through all that had happened in my life. In our obedience, God teaches us and takes us through stages that only he would be able to help us come out of.

The final trip that I took closing out 2015 sealed it all. It finally registered that all I needed was to have faith in God. The number one thing God had taught me in all my journeys was that the number one thing that brought growth was obedience.

The moment that pastors called my senior pastor for me to come out and share the word—that was all it took! I just stepped out in obedience and soared in my faith. I paid $250 for my fare to get to San Diego where my niece housed me in her beautiful home, and the rest was God’s work. God had people coming out of nowhere supplying and partnering with me in going out. The housing during my trips, my meals, my transportation costs, and my food were paid in full! Royal treatment! Can I get a witness! God is good! All the time! And all the time! God is great!

It’s exciting to be a vessel of honor for God. All the prophecies and the dreams that my mentor had over my life had come to fruition through the power of God.

I remember when I was told that my face would not only be for the Good Samaritan Worship Center but also for many all over the world. It never dawned on me that it would be through writing a book that God would fulfill that.

It’s the most fulfilling feeling to know that all our lives, God had us on his mind. Many couldn’t even fathom what it was to be used by God, but I could attest to that. It’s the most rewarding aspect of a Christ-like life.

I was often told that I couldn’t sing. When it came to big events, I was not one of the ones picked to hold a mic during praise and worship. All I knew was that I was born to worship, and it’s all I wanted to do; I also wanted to show others how to worship God. I loved giving God my best on any given Sunday in spite of what I could be going through. It didn’t matter. I just knew that the only day I needed to be in his sanctuary was on Sundays, giving God the best of me because it was the only thing I knew how to give.

My mentor noticed that I was a worship leader early on in my life. When I was a young teenager, he would purposely call on me to pray. My first experience to stand and speak the word was before a congregation full of stone-faced individuals. We often went out on mission trips. God had allowed this amazing father figure to be in my life when no one else understood what God was doing.

He would call me and tell me that we were getting ready to go out and that he needed me to lead the group. In his confidence to push me out there, I developed a heart of preparedness; any time he needed something done, I would never say that I couldn’t do it. I loved being under his leadership and had grown beyond the four walls. He equipped me in every way by putting me out in major conferences before many, and I learned early on that I needed to be ready at all times. There were times in our youth productions when he would come in the day before during the dress rehearsal and change the whole production. He would have us redo the whole thing. Back in the day, I used to think how frustrating it was to redo things that had taken months to practice. But in obedience in watching others before me, I saw that on the day of those major productions, the power of God would fall. Those were the days when God’s heart was being poured into our man of God. I had witnessed many, many more today.

It was exciting for me to see and learn from my mentor in every way. He was a person who functioned in many offices and had shaped a multitude of great leaders who were pastoring and serving in numerous different churches worldwide.

I had seen him single-handedly run an entire service, being that our branch was the mother church. I saw when people would get upset because something wasn’t working out in a service. Then I saw this man just depend on the presence of God and run a service as if there was a full band and preach a word as if there were millions there.

It was in these many experiences with him out in the field where God was making and molding me to be a product after his heart. I believe God blessed me with understanding him along with many of the ones with whom I currently serve. I can honestly say that if had to do it all over again, I most definitely would like to turn the clock back and just slow down the time with him. It’s been such a rewarding time. I am honored. I thank God every day for putting such a wonderful soul in my path. I have watched many who sat under this man of God and yet not catch a lick of his heart, and I have seen the many who have.

Through and through I am grateful to God for this phenomenal being under whom he has allowed me the privilege to serve for as long as I have.

Everywhere I go and wherever God will allow me to stand and share the word, the gratitude in my heart will forever be to the man with whom God blessed me in the role that he was given to be my spiritual father.

He had taught me many vital aspects in serving God.

    Dr. Isakara Sataraka,

Dad, you are the one who had taught me to be whatever it takes to win souls into the kingdom of God, and for that, I wanted to dedicate this book to you.

Thank you for never giving up on me. For believing in me when no one else would. I believe that God has confirmed our decision with you long before it ever came to pass. I will always give glory to God and honor to you, Dad.

Over the years, we have shared so many tears, heartaches, and conversations that would last up to four hours at a time. Never in any of our precious sharing have I ever regretted any of the rebukes or corrections. I will always cherish our times together. Those times were the ones that shaped me to be who I needed to be.

You are a loving father, great listener, and an amazing mentor! I will forever be grateful to God, who had sent you to be in my life, and for your commitment to fulfill what God needed you to complete as far as mentorship was concerned.

    I leave
