L. J. Underdue

L. J. Underdue was born in New Jersey, attended Montclair High School for two years and then Tom’s River High School North until graduation, and then attended Bloomfield College for three years. Since completing a poem in first grade, L. J. Underdue found a fondness for poetry, also being a third-generation poet. Writing was also found to be a release and therapeutic—a way to express the inner thoughts and soul, letting us all affirm that we share the same human experiences and emotions.

    ONE LONELY TEAR

One lonely tear is all I cry

One lonely tear since you said good-bye

Each time I hear that music play

Each time I feel that certain way

One lonely tear is all I cry

One lonely tear, you’ve another; why?

I see now, how I’ve loved you

I see now, I should have been true

One lonely tear is all I cry

One lonely tear falls from my eye

Though I now, have someone new

Though this time I believe we’re through

One lonely tear is all I cry

One lonely tear since you said good-bye

I hope someday we’ll love again

I hope to love you, until then . . .

One lonely tear is all I cry

One lonely tear . . . oh! I could die!

    RAMSEY LEWIS’

    LOVE SONG

    I love you

And you know that it’s true

Can’t you see it in my eyes?

    There’s no need for surprise.

    I’m in love with you

And I know you feel it too

I want to reach out so much

I need to have you feel my love

    Just give me your touch

    And let us love . . .
