About this ebook
It took a Buddha dog a life time and a half to get the message through to Valorie that she is an extraordinary person living on a beautiful, loving planet in a time of exciting vibratory growth. It started out as an exercise meant to wake Valorie up, and now its a gift for those who need a wake up call of their own, whether they live with a companion animal or not. It will definitely make you think about what your pets are really doing with you.
The planetary vibration is shifting into higher frequencies - we are moving forward to change our DNA and improve as human beings. To do this its important to remember who we are and how to appreciate, understand, and be kind to ourselves, because this is how we open our hearts to grow with our Mother Earth.
Dont let another day go by without opening your heart to the realization that you are extraordinary, too.

Ivan Idea came to life when Neal Sharma, a hard working police officer, told his big sister and aspiring author, Valorie Maya, about his idea of creating stories for his children. After years of trying to get his kids to think for themselves, “I’ve an idea…” became the main character of a book written with kids and their imaginations in mind. Valorie's a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature, an aunt to three nieces and a nephew, and was a kid herself at one time. She's an author of several websites and blogs that focus on positive living and the law of attraction. Her view is that if children learn early to see the positive side of life and how to use all of their talents, they can do anything they dream about and grow up to be happy, giving, and productive adults. Valorie and Neal live in the Washington DC area; she works in television broadcasting and he works for the city of Alexandria, VA. Both are creative and active, believing that life does not have to be predictable and boring. No matter how old or young you are you can enjoy being alive on a beautiful planet. PREFACE
My name is Valorie Maya. I am a creative, a thinker, a dreamer, and an explorer. I love animals, the brilliance of children, good food, the warmth of the sun, the comfort of a good bed, and the beauty of Mother Earth. I have been a mother, father, brother, grandparent, priestess, druid, healer, nomad, coal miner, Roman soldier, hunter and gatherer, and, I think, a sprite—but none of those in this life. Today I am an animal Reiki practitioner, writer, student of life, and a technician/teacher/investigator/communicator, and I have a story to share with you. It’s a story of an awakening that took years to achieve, almost three decades. In fact, it’s still happening for me.
Before I started my awakening journey, I thought of myself as ordinary, average in personality, body, intelligence, and creativity. I had no extraordinary goals to shoot for, no life plan, no dreams of saving the world, and no ambition to become more than an ordinary person. But my journey changed that for me. It wasn’t a planned or mapped-out journey; I just happened upon the concept of keeping an open mind and heart and let the universe lead me along. It proved to be the thing I needed the most, and it brought me the most precious of gifts: a never-ending love story that never stops giving.
How does one start telling his or her story of personal growth? So many little happenings during one’s life create bits and pieces of a larger story that finally morphs into a book about who you think you are and a recognition of your life path. When someone asks you how you became the person you are, it’s hard to pick just one story that covers the whole journey. It’s strangely difficult to pick that one story that could possibly explain the whole truth about you in an entertaining way that would interest other people. We could tell all the stories and weave the many hard-lived tales into long boring novels of our lives, but that would take a lifetime to share, which is why it’s easier to live our stories than to tell them.
The following story is just a small but important piece of a larger personal story that led to the writing of this book. It happened during an important time of my life. Truthfully, there were many opportunities for important choices, but this is the one that matters right now, when I approached the crossroads at the corner of Waking Up and Status Quo that forced me to make a decision as to which direction to turn and follow to the next intersection on my road of life. At the time of each happening, I was faced with the decision as to where to go next. There was only one thing that felt right to my heart, and I did it. And here I am today, still on my journey, but with a story I can finally share that has a conclusion of sorts.
That’s the first part of the book. The second is what I learned about myself during this journey that was taught to me so many years ago by my teacher and soul mate—my height-challenged, big-headed, shiny black-eyed, wire-haired Scottish terrier that I dubbed Master Stinkpot. He showed me what he saw when he looked at me every day, and it was a lot more than what I saw when I looked at myself. I took these insights and split them into daily passages that can be read in one day or taken in as daily lessons, or both. Your choice. These passages serve as daily reminders of Master Stinkpot’s view of me—that I’m an extraordinary person leading an extraordinary life.
I wanted to share this accidental exercise in self-realization that I created for myself out of love for Master Stinkpot in a way that would resonate with the largest audience possible, because what is true for me is also true for you. My wish for you after you finish my story, my lovely readers, is to be as inspired by your little happenings and mind-blowing coincidences as I am by mine. I want to encourage you to follow your life path with confidence, grace, and love for yourself and every person and animal that makes a guest appearance in your journey through life.
At the end of the book, I extend a 102-day challenge to you. It’s not an assignment, a job, or anything you have to do. There’ll be no test at the end. It’s just an exercise that will change how you see yourself, your family, your pets, your life—maybe even your world.
You will see how extraordinary you are too.
PART 1
CHAPTER 1
MY LIFE
M y parents grew up in strict households. Their parents, both sets having been born into an era of having to work hard to succeed and believing in the importance of social status and conformity to get ahead in the world, held their children up to high standards. Encouragement was rare, criticism was considered an expression of love and support, and breaking any rules set by their social circles was seriously frowned upon.
My parents were young, naive, and still in college when they decided to rebel. They did what college kids do: challenged their parents’ belief systems, made friends with people who widened their views of the world, did things they weren’t allowed to do at home, and dated whomever they felt like. They met during a social event and began a romance meant to expand their horizons. The expansion changed their lives forever.
Before they graduated, they learned about me.
