    Acknowledgements

During the writing of this book several people agreed to assist with the reviewing and editing of the poems. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all who gave their time. Without you, this publication would not have been possible.

First, a special thanks to my husband, Ransford for providing the photographs as well as helping me navigate my way on the computer.

I offer heartfelt appreciation to my team of friends for their advice and suggestions. Thank you Susan Rockwell, for agreeing to read and edit the poems at a moment’s notice, as well as for the suggestions you gave. I have always been able to depend on you for support.

A special thanks to you Judy Kop. Although extremely busy, you found time to read, edit the poems and offer feedback. Thanks, too, for the suggestions you gave with regard to designing the cover.

Thank you Richard Grenier for reading, editing, and giving invaluable advice.

Ruth Scott, you had no qualms about giving constructive criticism and helping me avoid embarrassing mistakes in the poems you were asked to read. I sincerely thank you.

Marty Parsons, you graciously agreed to help me without any hesitation. That meant so much to me. Thank you.

Thank you Jackie Reader. When I asked for your help, I knew you had other obligations. Yet, you graciously read and edited many of the poems.

Thanks to my friend Lisa Stohl, who came over to help do a last go over. We were able to collaborate and make important decisions about the manuscript.

Norma Hendricks you are responsible for putting the icing on the cake. You were just in time to help me go over the manuscript, dotting the I’s and crossing the t’s.

And last, but by no means least, a heartfelt thanks to family members, and friends, who provided the scenarios about which I write.

Thank You Father. I couldn’t have done this without You.

    Chosen, Yet Free

He never says oops! He’s never surprised

He created the world. He’s very wise.

He created me, and He created you

He made the seas and the aquatic animals too,

He knows all about you from beginning to end

He sent His only Son to be your Savior and friend.

He put together the heavens and the earth

He knew all about us before our birth.

He made every animal, both big and small

He made the mouse and the giraffe tall.

His will for you is that you believe and be saved

He sent His Son to die and return from the grave.

He has chosen you to live forever with Him

But the choice to accept must come from within.

You must first believe, then your sins confess

Jesus your Savior will do what He does best

That is, He’ll forgive you of every known sin.

And into your heart He will enter in.

He won’t be surprised by what you decide to do

For He already knows what’s inside of you

How you are thinking, and how you will act.

The Holy Bible contains sixty-six books of facts

It is no easy feat to read and understand

Unless you ask the Holy Ghost to give you a hand.

Our Creator deserves our unending praise

For the blessings He constantly sends our way

For the love, and mercy extended each day

For the forgiveness that’s ours when we pray.

It boggles the mind just to realize

That our sins once forgiven are cast aside.

Becoming a Christian doesn’t guarantee a life of ease

For the Devil will be constantly at your heels,

    Filling you with doubts, and temptations galore;

Trying his best to make you feel unsure

Of the standing you have in eternal salvation,

To live in Heaven and shower Him with adoration.

So give to Him your heart without delay

Then, a mansion in Heaven will be yours one day.

    He Is Never Surprised!

We often say oops, but He never does!

    Because He’s knows the beginning

    And He knows the end

He knows who will like us

    And who we will befriend.

    He knows what you’re thinking

    Before you even do

He knows the words you’ll speak

As well as how you’ll act

    And exactly what you’ll do.

Oftentimes individuals are placed in our path

And we’re perplexed at the way things progress

We might think it’s a coincidence

    But it’s not really so

He knew that’s the way it would go!

    When you think of it

    He never says oops

    For His foreknowledge

    Enables Him to know

The beginning as well as, the end

He’s your Creator, He wants to be your friend.

His will for you is that you be saved

Since for you His Son He gave

To die and rise from the grave.

    Although you were elected

You’ve got to make the choice

Whether or not to accept His loving sacrifice.

He won’t force Himself on you

One of two decisions is yours to make,

    Accept Him and life with
