About this ebook

There is a poetic expression here for anyone who has ever fallen in love, who has pined for someone, who has loved without being loved back, who has been cheated on, or who has felt confused in love. Many lines have a country music lyrical feel; they yearn for a simpler time and are not distracted by modernity. Personal portraits are peppered throughout the book with quotes about love and life. These needlessly pull attention away from the poetry.

    Falling Leaf

Evision a leaf falling from a tree

Daggling and turning thru the air

                    With such grace and ease

Reminds you of a man on a flying trapeze

Floating like the wind is free

Winding and spinning with so much poise,

Gently falling, not making a noise.

                    So silently without a sound,

Tumbling slowly and easily to the ground.

Finally reaching the earth it seeks,

Stepped on and stomped over by so many feet

To lie there with no source of motion

Getting back up to the top would be a great notion.

    The Gibbs and Sister Bon

Wednesday night is our favored time

Cause at our house, Sister Bon you’ll find.

Such happiness and joy there’ll always be,

Enjoying each others’ company before we feed.

        Usually salad, potatoes and steak,

Sometimes changing for a different pace.

Sitting and talking about odds and ends

While smoking our cigarettes to the very brim.

Everyone rushing to get their news heard,

Stepping on each other, like a buffalo herd.

But, boy do we enjoy each others’ company!

Even though, most of the time it’s so funny.

        Television is our main hang-up.

Which program to watch, we angrily discuss.
