There’s Healing In His Wings

In the year that king Uzziah died I also saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Isaiah 6:1

As for me, in the year that my life became plagued by one illness or condition after another in rapid succession, I too saw the Lord. I sought God like never before concerning my health issues as they seemed to appear out of nowhere with little or no warning. It was then that I realized that in order to lessen the amount of obscurity between God and me; my Uzziah(s) must die.

I have learned that my Uzziah is anything that hinders my relationship with the true and living God. My Uzziah of unbelief, my Uzziah of doubt, my Uzziah of murmuring, my self-righteousness, my pride, my Uzziah of people pleasing, and my Uzziah of acceptance of the status quo. I had been convinced that I have no value of my own therefore I could never make a difference in God’s Kingdom. I was satisfied with being in the shadows, working behind the scenes to make others look good, nurturing a false sense that this was my lot in life. I truly believed that I am here to help others reach their potential while failing to realize that my life has purpose as well.

It took many years for me to come to the knowledge that Psalm 139:14 includes me. It states, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." (KJV) I am a designer’s original. This past year so many things have happened in my life but through it all, God showed me little glimpses of Himself to keep me encouraged. I went through some hard times but God was right by my side.

We all have a desire to be used by God but we don’t realize He is not enlisting advisors to tell Him what He should do. Nor can we hope to be placed on His distinguished Board of Directors. When we pray, God use me, we are surrendering our will to His and we don’t know how He will choose to use us. This is His opportunity to put our faith on trial. We serve an awesome God who has the ability to take something ordinary and make it extraordinary for His glory. Psalms 68:35 states it this way, You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!

So many things are going on in our world today.
