This book is dedicated to the Holy Spirit. Since early on in my Christian life, He has been there to lead, teach, and guide me. He has been my helper all my life. Thank you, Holy Spirit, and to God be the glory.

Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this is the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem, and has extended mercy to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. So, I was encouraged, as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me; and I gathered leading men of Israel to go up with me. (Ezra 7:27-28)

    About the Author

    INTRODUCTION

Seasons come and seasons go; however, the search for what could make life a little easier never goes away. The quest to simplify life is ingrained in the very nature of our human DNA. It is one of the very forces that has led to many inventions of our time. It is also the very force that has inspired many technological discoveries. These inventions and technologies are widely known and used today. All kinds of resources have been poured out to make these inventions and discoveries possible, including but not limited to funding, time, energy, and learning.

Wouldn’t it be a life changing to know that there is one invention that you have never used or have used a very little? The invention I speak of is the mercy of God. God himself is the inventor of mercy. He invented mercy to help His creation—you and me. He invented mercy to make our lives not just a little easier but a lot better. Unlike the inventions and technologies that, in most cases if not all cases, require some form of money, time, energy, connections, and learning, the mercy of God requires only faith—the faith that God will give to you what you ask of Him. He will show you mercy whether you have money, religion, energy, education, connections, or title. He will have compassion on you.

As we shall see in this book, the inventor of mercy—God—wants you to come as you are. Consider this to be His personal invitation for you to discover for yourself that, regardless of who you are, where you have been, what you have done, or where you have come from, He still wants to show you His loving kindness. He wants to have mercy on you. His mercy is unfailing.

    CHAPTER 1

    WHAT IS MERCY?

How excellent [is] thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. (Psalm36:7)

It was yet another moment in which I was enduring severe back pain from an injury I had sustained during my previous job five years back. I had seen a chiropractor and gone through a proposed treatment. The treatment ended, but my back pain didn’t. It only got worse as time went on. I had also prayed that God would grant me healing, but I didn’t receive an answer. Nights were hard for me. No sleeping position would to relieve me from pain.

On this day when the severe back pain started, I felt as if my back was on fire, so I sat on a chair. Unlike other times, on this particular night I cried out to God, God, have mercy on me and heal my back! Suddenly I felt as if someone took an ice pack and put it on the back of my neck. From there, the feeling trickled down, and every inch where the droplets from the ice pack touched as it passed through, the pain was wiped out. That process took a few seconds. To my big surprise, when it was finished, I was left with a back that was absolutely free from pain. I felt so much lighter. Instinctively, I stood up—and there was no pain. I bent down a few times. Prior to this, bending had caused me an excruciating amount of pain,
