About this ebook

Poetry, I love to write
Mostly, in the middle of the night
I will write, as long as I'm able
Sitting in silence, at my kitchen table

I hope you have enjoyed my book
It was nice of you take a look
So, I'll finish this one now
It's easy once you know how

Try to jot down a few lines
And, try not to focus too much on the rhymes
Thank you so much, for reading each page
I'm starting to get up there in age

But, for as long as time gives me
I'll be writing poems for all to see
So, I'll bring this one to an end
I'll write more down the road, my dear friend

Alanna’s Book of Poetry - Alanna McGaw

    The New Year

Christmas is over, and Santa is asleep

Mrs. Claus has got everything clean and neat

The Christmas trees gone from the windows as everyone has taken them down

And, yet the snowflakes keep falling gently down

The start of a new year for all

When Santa awakens; he will be sure to call

And, all of his elves will be eager to start making toys

For the next Christmas, to all the good little girls and boys

Bobsledding and skating, it’s still lots of fun

Skiing too, and snow by the ton

Everyone, is still enjoying the winter season

Just kicking around for no good reason

So, enjoy yourselves in the new year

Be joyful and happy with lots of good cheer

Good fortune and good health to all

Cut loose, and . . . be sure to have a ball

    Bringing In The New Year

    Cigarette smoke fills the air

Balloons, horns and hats to bring us cheer

Whiskey and beer glasses scattered everywhere

This is how I brought in the New Year

A man dressed in a diaper with cigar in mouth

A top hat on his head . . . what a silly lout

Food and dance throughout the night

And, resolutions that we’ll try to do right

The year 1994 has arrived with all of its light

It seems to be starting off fresh and bright

    Wishing all . . . a prosperous new year

Hoping it brings . . . health, wealth and good cheer

Midnight has arrived and all will kiss

For, this is a greeting known by all . . . oh, what bliss

The party soon comes to an end

Everyone leaves, so good-bye to a friend

    Do not drink and drive

The ride program is on alert . . . to make sure you arrive alive

    Police will be checking all

To see if they’ve been drinking alcohol

I hope that all are safe and fine

Be safe and well, and . . . make sure you are kind

Make sure to sleep well throughout the night

    And
