Truth and Poetry - Elder James McCurry BA C.ED
FELLOWSHIP!
The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all the parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ… Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. ~ 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
We need to understand what it means when we assemble together. The devil knows what it means and what happens when the believers come together, and he also knows the fastest way to defeat us is to keep us divided and that’s a method he is often successful at. A body is not divided, it may have active members, but they all work for the same cause. There are no competitions within the body; all do its parts according to its purpose. Everyone of us has a purpose. (Matthew 12:22-28)
Stop letting the devil put in your mind that you need to be separated. The only thing we need to separate ourselves from are the things of the demonic world. The body has got to be whole, and dependent upon one another. For example, the hands depend upon the feet. We need to learn how to depend upon one another. We don’t just share in good times, but also burdens. Scripture encourages us to bare one another burdens
(Galatians 6:1-2; Romans 15:1-3).
Don’t limit your fellowship to just your association of friends, but spread it, share it, give it away. This is not a social gathering. But all of us have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and we must learn to acknowledge we may not have gotten as far as some, but we are still pressing. (2 Corinthians 13:11; Philippians 2:1-4; Romans 15:6-7; Amos 3:3)
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers and sisters, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. ~ 1 Peter 3:8-9
HOMOSEXUALITY: WHAT DOES THE BIBLE STATE?
If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. ~
Leviticus 20:13
See: Romans 1:21-32
A few days ago as I watched a special on television of our President, he was asked a question in reference to the subject of this lesson, homosexuality.
Question: Mr. President, do you feel that homosexual is a choice, or can a person be born that way?
Answer: I don’t see it being a choice although many choose to live that way, but many through gender, by birth.
This is a subject matter where many who confess Christianity or to be religious in many denominations have begun to judge and condemn the people instead of the sin.
The homosexual definition of Gay is to have a sexual orientation to persons of the same sex; a person whose sexual orientation is to those of the same sex. The gay is distinguished from homosexuality in emphasizing the cultural and social aspects of homosexuality as opposed to sexual practice. Many writers reserve gay for males, but since the word is also used to refer to both sexes, the phrase gay and lesbian is often used to avoid confusion.
In reading Romans chapter one, verses 24-28, we find the Apostle Paul writings included this sin, [When people stray from Yahweh (God), He gives them over to the consequences of their error––in physically, emotionally and mentally; that is, in every aspect of their lives. Being given over to sexual sin and, in particular homosexuality, is singled out as punishment from Yahweh, punishments which themselves are sins.]
Homosexuality did not begin in 2010 but it was wide spread through the first century Roman Empire, as it is today. This is why the gay liberation movement can gain a wide hearing as it seeks equality, acceptance and approval of homosexual behavior. It is the reason why churches with tens of thousands of members in the United States, many of them openly active homosexuals, can refuse to condemn homosexual behavior as sin, yet they seek acceptance as Christians. This is one reason why the outsiders condemn the Christian community when it rejects the claim and refuses to recognize homosexuality as an alternative life-style
(alternative, meaning a choice between two or more exclusive possibilities, or allowing a choice between two or more things).
The basic attitude of those who believe the Bible should be to love sinners while hating their sins. But believers must accept the Bible’s judgments on what is and what is not sin. Moreover, denouncing the sin is an aspect of loving the sinner; this is what enables a person to repent, be forgiven and to change. All of this can be done in a compassionate and effective way.
The real is that there are few churches that even try to minister to homosexuals. Homosexuals who have put their trust in Yahshua the Messiah, acknowledge their homosexual behavior and fantasies, as sin and become part of a community of believers in the Messiah who love and care and pray for them, have found that the Holy Spirit gives them strength to fleet their temptation, turn from their sins and live righteous (Godly) lives. Like former sexual abusers and substance abusers, they may recognize that they are weak in these areas and rely on Yahshua day by day to keep them free of it. (Matthew 5:58; 2 Corinthians 12:9-10).
The bad news is not over. Maybe you’re not homosexual but you perceive the conditions of others who are and condemn them. Your sin is pride, and Paul has a word for you: Spotting the evil in others has not rooted out the evil in you, or as some say, It takes one to know one.
(Matthew 7:1-4; James 4:11-12) So let’s not judge the sinner, but condemn the sin, with a love of Yahshua that will draw the individual out of the sinful acts, and he/she be given a chance to repent.
We cannot take a stand against any sin, supposing that we are special: We all must turn from the
