The Book of Love, Obedience, and Truth

What does love have to do with our walk with God? How does obedience relate to our walk with God? How is truth defined in this modern society? God is love. Obedience to God demonstrates faith. Absolute truth does exist regardless of what is being taught in the educational arena. Absolute truth is the Word of God.

In the Old Testament, we find Lot, the nephew of Abraham. What does the life experiences of Lot teach us about love, obedience, and truth? Love, obedience, and truth are essential in having a proper relationship with the Creator. They are not optional. When Lot's love was focused on materialism, the outcome almost cost him his life much like many in the world today. We will see how Lot's obedience and the lack thereof have led to opposition still current in the Middle East. Additionally, truth is not held in high regards in a diminishing society whose culture is based on fulfilling the desires of the flesh. Finally, we will see that love, obedience, and truth are clarion calls to any nation under the One and Only True and Wise God.

I write this in memory of my mother, Evangelist Ruby Lee Coleman Walker, the pastor of which I was an assistant pastor, Prophetess Isabelle Williams, and my pastor that launched me to Japan as a missionary, Pastor Lawrence Bishop. These three, although deceased, have made the greatest consistent impact on my life in ministry.

Evangelist Ruby Lee Coleman Walker made a great impact on my life because God uses the good, bad, and indifferent situations to work in our betterment to His glory. My mother first introduced me to the Word of God and made sure I attended Sunday school from ages three to seventeen. I was baptized at age six and began teaching Sunday school at nine years old. She made sure I was prepared every Saturday night to teach the lesson each Sunday morning. When she began to work, she made sure one of my older siblings ensured I continued being prepared.

Prophetess Isabelle Williams was a dear friend and confidante. God used her to sharpen me for ministry. Together we chartered Born Free Temple in Dayton, Ohio. It was under her spiritual authority that I preached my first sermon on Isaiah 54. She was forty years my senior and filled with the wisdom of God. She also was pleasant even in rebuke and correction.

Pastor Lawrence Bishop, the late pastor of Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Ohio, was my pastor for eight years. It was under his ministry that I was allowed to host many distinguished ministers. Although Mother Crawford was not among the celebrated ministers I hosted, she is a minister I will never forget. My meeting her was a life changing event for preparation in evangelism. Mother Crawford was a pastor's wife and missionary for 55 years. She came to give me what she called the blessing. It was after this that Pastor Lawrence launched me as a missionary to Japan for which I will forever be grateful.

Additionally, I would like to acknowledge all those used in my life in good, bad, and indifferent ways because all of this has helped make me who I am today. God has kept me for such a time as this and I am forever grateful to each of you. I thank God for saving me. I also thank Him for family that has loved me in their own special way and for friends I call family.

Finally, I would like to thank Ms. Lorine Burks-Derby, my sister, who has edited this work to the glory of God and encouraged me all through the process. We give God all the glory and praise for what He has done.

    Preface

I have known the author all of my fifty plus years of living. We come from a strong Christian lineage of a praying mother. A mother who would always say, God can do anything but fail. I have watched her go from sinner to saint and her relationship with Jesus from Savior to Lord.

This book of LOT is written very directly to the heart of the Body of Christ-because there is much at stake. It is an alarm sounding to the Body of Christ to be unfailing in Love, strong in Obedience and uncompromising in Truth. It is a call to the Redeem to arise, awake and to shine.

Roman 8:19 For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God's sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship].

Ephesians 5:13-14 But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light. Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light. [Isaiah 26:19; 60:1, 2.]

    Introduction

Just as Lot had some difficult times in his walk with God, we all will experience hardships. Life has its good, bad, and indifferent times. We are birthed into an evil world due to the fall of Adam. Our human nature has to be reborn so that we can once again enjoy fellowship with our Maker and Creator. It is my belief that every person is born with God-given purpose(s) to fulfill in life. However, many do not fulfill such purposes due to bondages. Many may never be delivered from the opinions of men. Therefore, due to this bondage they take great potential to the grave.

What makes life worth living? One must have something to live for beyond just a mundane existence. Many women put so much emphasis on being married and allow that to overshadow their true calling due to a modern society that has not equipped us with the truth. At most we have been reared in truth and in error, gross error in some cases. Life is worth living when you embrace service to others. Just as Jesus served humanity, we can find our fulfillment in helping others.

Lot traveled to a land with Abram (who became the patriarch Abraham) although God had told Abram to take no one with him. He was to leave behind his father's people which meant all his relatives. Yet, Lot, his nephew, was allowed to go with Abram. Sometimes our decisions, aside from obeying God, cause so much grief. There in the
