Journey from God to God - Chrissy Girard
Changing Times
Winter when I was little
Seemed to be oh so brittle
Much, much colder then
Yes, can remember when
Summer at the club house
Once mom made me squash a mouse
Playing on the Meramec
Can’t get those times back
Dad pushing us on the rope swing
Around the campfire boy did we sing?
Mom in the kitchen Dad by the grill
Those were the days oh what a thrill
One day mom told us to pack
The next summer we didn’t go back
I returned once with my boys
We even drug all their toys
Much to my dismay an electric line was down and we couldn’t stay
We hauled everything back up the hill
This time when I left I felt a chill
The clubhouse as I remember wasn’t fit for a contender
It is now a place of the past
Strange how good things never last
Traded Love
Growing up my life was grand
I had the best mom and dad in the land
I didn’t know that people fought
Or how evil they thought
I thank the Lord above
All I knew growing up was Love
We went to church every Sunday
And before ate we would always pray
I was sheltered and so naive
Don’t know where I learned to deceive
Or what caused my dependency
I turned my back on reality
Causing everyone grief
I turned into a thief
Lying, stealing and getting high
Traded, was a life full of love…. Why?
Guess Who?
I once knew a girl
She had lots of curl
She took a hit
And that was it
Poor girl lost it all
Thought she was having a ball
Life’s no longer the same
Nope …Not for this dame
This time there is no bail
Girl you’re going to jail
Cocaine
She makes me nervous
She makes me lie
She makes me, want to die
She has no mercy
For a second I’m numb
Now I’m back and feeling dumb
Who said it was OK
A relapse is expected
But now I feel lonely and rejected
I don’t quite understand
For it used to euphoria
Now it’s extreme paranoia
She gets to me every time
It doesn’t matter how she looked
I see her and bam I’m hooked
She can’t even visit my house
If she comes by for a stranger
She puts me in total danger.
No, she can’t be around me
I am so weak
I let her turn me into a freak
After she leaves me
I want her back
Almost have an attack
Then I calm down
And feel so dumb
This time she didn’t make me numb
She turned me into a psycho
You know a tweaker
Want to kick her with my sneaker
Wish I was stronger now it’s back to, Day one
Makes me mad to think what I’ve done.
My ropes are tight now
