This Is Life: Poetical Expressions Vol. I
()
About this ebook
The realm of poetry provides unquestionable permission for release of truths. With the jotting down of poetry in my mind and the translating of it on paper, I am able to free my spirit and release truth into lifes healing sphere.
The collection of poems in This Is Life attempts to relate stories from a poetical standpoint. Some are personal. Some depict life's walks with family and friends, and others portray Patricia's observation of living.
In this body of work, the author attempts to emphasize the value of life itself and provides a rediscovery of the importance of consistently reviewing, with intent to overhaul, the condition of our inner being by facing those truths which are sometimes denied.
Patricia M. Edwards
Patricia M. Edwards possesses a master’s in organizational management and is a certified professional public buyer. Married with children, she considers herself truly blessed to be surrounded consistently by her many grandchildren; some of whom reside outside of the United States. As early as kindergarten, her propensity for writing was evident. In high school, she wrote articles on different topics, which were displayed on several occasions in the school’s cafeteria to a captivated audience. Although she started writing poetry in high school, it was not until she began a career that her desire to make poetry writing a hobby truly blossomed. Over the years, she has shared her poetry with family, friends, and coworkers, receiving positive and constructive reactions. Patricia considers her gift of writing a true blessing from God, and her wish is that her penchant for writing poetry will reflect in her poems and spark stable interest from her readers.

This Is Life - Patricia M. Edwards
Spirituality
spirituality.jpgLiving can be complex and unrewarding, but its foundation, the God-given life, is rewarding and absolute! When mankind embraces this foundation and acknowledges its source, we are able to gain ascendancy over the challenges of living!
Ode To The Heart
Heart of gold placed in a web-like chest,
Assiduously aspirant for happiness,
Pass on to me the knowledge that you gain with each dilation!
Push forth your beats that preserve
Youth of spirit and body!
Blessed must you be from Heaven,
For so incessant seems your work.
Rather, one would think you are a thing of great expanse
Than the small and delicate matter you are.
Heaving always – until then – but with such grace,
Like a dancer of the ballet.
Ah! You are the one that makes us gentle yokemates to each other.
Strength Within
Your anger was my fame,
It was all I had to gain.
You controlled my very being;
I was your victim and your queen.
I rose to royal heights of fear,
Your voice resonating in my ear,
Commanding me at every turn!
Great fear for you was mine to learn.
In the quiet of my thoughts
I would pretend that I was lost,
I pranced and frolicked in the rain,
Then suddenly I’d hear your shouts again.
So much has happened since.
Of my doom I had been convinced,
But my fight for survival made you my rival,
And I swore I would not even wince.
I fought to regain myself
With all that I had left - all I felt
And stood there before you with strength from above
Reclaiming my life and self-love!
At last I have seen the light.
No more will I succumb to flight.
Deep within me lives a spiritual spark,
That has at long last tempered your bark!
Blindfold
I am rich.
Wealth of diverse lineage is that gift.
Having been birthed by myriad nations,
I have fostered a non-exclusive alliance.
Living is putrefied with inequality,
This being perpetuated by those out of touch with reality –
The truth that all were created as equal,
And such a revelation denial can never
